Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How did your LO do with 2 month shots?

DD had her two month shots last Monday -- she did not do well.  She had several meltdowns throughout the week and wouldn't even take her paci, which she usually loves.  We finally got our baby girl back on Saturday and she was taking her paci again like normal.  I took DD to the chiro today and was telling her about it and she basically scolded me for not doing delayed shots with DD because she is so little.  Now I feel like a bad mom. :-(

  • Don't feel like a bad mom, you wouldn't have done it if you felt you were doing something wrong for your baby.

DD got her shots Friday. She was cranky and slept the whole day. Saturday and Sunday, she seemed normal. Today is another cranky and sleepy day, but I think that has more to do with being busy yesterday.

Do you get Parent's magazine? There is an article in there about baby pain management, and they talk about a cream that you can put on skin an hour before shots, and they never feel it. I plan on talking to our doc about it for the next round of shots. Less traumatic, it seems to me.

  • Don't feel like a bad mom, especially after a scolding from a chiro!! All baby's react differently. Mine was a trooper, but I'm sorry your DD had a hard time. Maybe she'll do better with the 4 month shots.
  • First of all your DD is adorable! Smile

Second, you ARE NOT a bad mom! I know this is a controversial subject....to delay or not to delay their shots, but whatever choice your family makes is best for YOUR family!

We didn't delay DD's shots either and our DD was pretty fussy, had a fever, etc. after her two month shots, but she did much much better after her 4 month shots. Every LO is different, but hopefully your DD will do better at her 4 month shots too!

  • DS was a little cranky and tired that night, but was totally fine otherwise.  And we're not doing a delayed schedule.  Don't feel bad!

Thanks for this info- I am spacing my shots out a bit, but am still concerned about his reaction. Is this an OTC thing, or do only doctors administer it?

Thanks ladies!  After doing the research, DH and I had decided to do the normal schedule.  But when I was talking to the chiro today she said since DD is so little (9 lbs 5 oz) we should have done the delayed and should only have her get one shot a month from here on out.  I kinda want to get them over with on the normal schedule, but now I'm conflicted.  In any event, it's good to know the 4 months shots may go better.

  • Please don't feel like a bad mom for doing what you felt was right. The chiro should feel like a bad doctor for saying anything to you
