My baby is having trouble latching so I am pumping right now for each feeding.
How many ounces of BM should she be eating for each feeding? She eats every 3 hrs-3.5 hours. On average I can pump about 1 ounce per side. So 2 ounce each feed.
Any advice?
Re: How much BM when you pump??? I'm so confused.
when i feed her from the bottle, i usually put 4 oz or more in one bottle and she eats until shes full.
usually 2-2.5 ounces per sitting.

Oatmeal, fenugreek, mothers milk tea, lactation cookies, drink tons of water - all these could help boost your supply some. Also pumping a little more often will tell your body to produce more milk.
I have oversupply issues, so I'm not a huge help in this department. I can pump 3-5 ounces on one side some days, and only an ounce others.
For little babies only a couple of ounces per feeding is normal. Also if you just had the baby your milk supply isn't really in yet. The more you nurse/pump the more you will produce. It took me a couple weeks at least before I was getting larger amounts consistantly and now I get about 4-5 ounces every 3 hours when I pump.
Hi Rene! Man, you've got a lot of milk! My milk stops after 2 oz. like clockwork.
The baby is 5 days old...
Oh yeah, make sure you are drinking LOTS of water and eating more - more than when you were pregnant.
A good habit to get into is to eat something and drink a glass of water after each pumping/nursing session so you get used to eating and drinking more frequently.
Thanks so much everyone. Some great advice.
I was feeling guilty about this especially since I'm not BFing but pumping the BM...I guess it's still the same milk just a different way of getting it down, right?!
Absolutely! As long as your LO is satisfied after a feeding, I wouldnt worry. Too much trying to boost your supply and you could end up with too much milk. It's not comfortable and it makes it harder for LO to latch and nurse if you do BF.
i like a pp, have oversupply issues and i'm dealing with engorgement in my left bewbie so i have more than Ellie needs. I usually take a little of the top with my pump, feed her from the leftie first, switch to the right and pump whatevers left in there and freeze it or make a bottle for the day in case dh wants to feed her or in case we have guests over.
some days i get 3+ ounces in each breast and some days its as little as 1.
just as long as Ellie is satisfied it doesn't matter right?
