I saw your posts, below, regarding looking to switch the twins off Enfamil Gentlease. I can't speak for switching from Gentlease to the "regular" Enfamil Lipil formulation; however, I can speak for doing the opposite. When we started supplementing our BF'ing sessions with formula bottles (about 3 weeks ago, after DS's 2 month appt), we began with the "regular" Enfamil Lipil...and DS was soaking burp cloths with spit-up. It was crazy, since he had NEVER spit up like that after BF'ing. After about a week, we switched over to Gentlease and it made a HUGE difference and I'm not sure that we will ever be able to go back to a "regular" formulation.
I can only imagine that the cost is ridiculous for your family - supplementing with formula (especially the Gentlease) has already put a huge dent in our budget, and we're only buying for ONE...and have only done it for 3 weeks!
) However, I did want to share with you that Target carries a house-brand formula that "compares" to Gentlease. I just bought a can today, so we haven't tried it out yet; but it was $10 cheaper (for the large can) than Enfamil. Also, while I was at Kroger, tonight, I noticed that they carry a Private Selection Organic house-brand that seems to compare to the Gentlease formulation (around the same price as the Target brand). One of DH's friends also told him that Sam's Club carries a "gentle formula" that he and his wife swear by, which compares to Gentlease and is much more affordable (however, I can't confirm that or give a price per can, since I haven't been to Sam's to check it out, yet).
You might already know all of that, but I just wanted to pass along the information just in case it might help with your decision. Good luck with the switch...or with finding a "gentle" house-brand formula that works for the twins and reduces your overall cost. Let us know how it goes!
