Diaper Genie vs Diaper Genie II ?

Is there any difference at all between these two? If so..which one would be better to get? With our first we just had a trashcan..NOT doing that again! I had to take out the trash like every day and bleach out the trashcan at least once a week,sometimes more. I always had baking soda in the bottom of the trashcan AND had scented trashbags. So this time we are going the easy way! Big Smile

    There are two different kinds now? I had no clue! I'm going to register this week, that's something I'll definitely have to look at.

    We got the 2nd one because we could buy the refills at our local wholesale store for cheaper than BRU or Walmart. I think ours might be the "Elite" model.

    Honestly, I'm the opposite. I had the genie with Roo and it didn't even keep the smell at bay.

    I have the Diaper Genie and my friend has the Diaper Genie II - my friend prefers my diaper genie.  As far as differences go, I'm not really sure what they are..........

    We got the Genie II. I have no idea what the difference is except for the fact that we can't even find the original anywhere... only the refills. I'm hoping it works because I've got no other bright ideas of what to do with the poo!

    Thanks for everyone's comments! My husband and I were just having a big debate over which one to get..the diaper "champ," etc. But now, I think we are GOOD! Smile

    My BIL had the original diaper genie and I hated that damn thing. You put the diapers in and then have to do this annoying twist thing on the top and hope that it shoves down in there like it should. And I never knew when it was full, but maybe that's because they were really bad about emptying it. I just received the Diaper Genie II Elite at my shower b/c one of my friends got it and after seeing hers I decided it was our best bet. Not sure how well it will keep the smell out but I definitely like it way better than the original!

    Yes, with the original you have to twist so they end up being like a bunch of hot dogs in a strand or something.  Problem is, when you take it out, it all unravels.  The Diaper Genie II, you push the diaper through a flap and they stay all in one pack.  I've been using ours for 15 months and I seriously love it.  It is one baby item I cannot imagine doing without.  It keeps the smell out well but if you put poopy diapers in there, you do have to make sure to empty it after 2-3 days.  Like anything with nasty poop in it, it will eventually smell.  At this point, since DS only poops once a day, we just throw those ones straight in the trash outside.  I don't have to empty the genie nearly as often since only pee diapers go in it.

    I seriously could go on and on about our Diaper Genie II.  I love it.

    I know the diaper genie II elite has the foot pedal for handless opening/disposing.  A feature I believe the prior models did not have.

    Get the diaper genie 2 elite.  SIL has diaper genie 2 and her only complaint is that it needs changed a lot, the 2 elite is the same refills as the diaper genie 2, but it is bigger so it doesn't need changed as often.

    I really like my diaper champ.  It uses regular plastic bags and has done a good job of keeping the smell out so far.

    The champ is the one we got...not only did it keep stench at bay, but also we used just regular plastic bags (like you get from the grocery store) and didn't have to figure out the twist.
