Eek!

We had our consult with the RE yesterday and it went great!  We walked out knowing that he is the doctor for us AND with a prescription for Clomid in hand.  We narrowed down our donor choices to 5 donors today and should be picking up a vial of "the one" in about 6 weeks for our first and hopefully only (hopes not too high) insem.

Since today is CD1 we could actually inseminate in a couple weeks but we aren't rushing out donor decision that quickly.

This is happening much quicker than I thought it would and I'm so happy it is!

*Oh yeah...  I never thought I would be so grateful for AF before, now I realize how lucky I am to be so regular and without any problems.

  • Congrats! That is exciting!

How are you on Clomid if you don't have any problems? ??

A person doesn't have to have diagnosed IF problems to be on Clomid.  If you were to chose to go the medicated route this would probably be the first option the dr gives you. I'm going medicated and even though my blood work has come back 100% perfect at all times of my cycle I chose to start with 100mg of clomid.  But that's me, and DW and I are going this route because it makes the most sense for us.  Everyone is different - but you definitely don't have to have IF to be on fertility drugs.

ditto this. we started right off with medicated cycles even though nothing was showing up--and we still went through 6 cycles going that route.

As my doctor said..."it will give you more bang for your buck".  I will be taking only 25mg per day, half a pill.  He said he could do a lot more fertility treatments but that it wasn't necessary to load me up on a ton of hormones since I've already conceived naturally without any meds.

  • Very cool! Glad things are moving along for you.

Wow. ?I had no idea. ?Thanks for explaining. I wonder whether that is something I should be considering? ?My concern would be whether it raises the chances of of multiples. ?

Yes, there is an increased risk of multiples, but with proper monitoring you can manage that risk somewhat. There are other s/es to consider too, though-- it can sometimes thin your lining (making implantation more difficult) and can change your CM (only really relevant for people doing ICIs), among other things.
