A "Parenting" move I will do different with #2... PSA

Let Your kids play by themselves!!

Jackson has been really tough lately because he only wants to play with ME. He rarely plays with his toys and it gets very frustrating. I can hardly get anything done around the house because he follows me around wanting to do what I do/or play with him. (I realize alot of this is his age)

I am guilty of feeling guilty when I am not with him or interacting with him, which I shoudn't feel at all.

My neighbors kids were over (imagine that, lol!) and I noticed how well the 13 month old actually "played" with toys. I talked to her mom about it and she said she just really tries to get her to play independently.....

I will so do that with #2, it is very important!!

Just passing along my little "aha" moment!

DC #2 won't know how to play by himself either because he'll always have big brother around to keep him company Wink.  It is so great once they're at an age where they can play together.  DD & DS keep each other occupied for hours at a time now.

  • LOL!  DC #2 will have DC#1 to always play with so you get a break :-)  DS is good at playing by himself thank goodness!

Our kids are 19mths apart and we LOVE it!!

Married to my BFF on 8.13.05 (after dating 5 years)!

DS born 2.14.08. DD born 9.30.09.

I was thinking about this the other day.  Brandon does a great job of playing by himself... the only problem is you still have to watch him like a hawk!

(we bought that superyard thing tonight so we can get work done in other parts of the house and not worry about blinking)
