we have a spacesaver and while i love it for home, i think it would be a PITA to take around on a regular basis. for that i would definitely suggest the FP healthy choice booster. we bought it to keep at my parents' bc it was cheaper and smaller than the space saver. it has a carrying strap and a cover to keep the tray from getting gross. it is highly portable (much more so than the space saver).
just make sure you get the blue and green or maroon and beige one with the height adjustments. all the bad reviews i read were for the stripped down orange and yellow model (which is cheaper).
We bought a booster seat that straps down onto chairs just like the spacesaver...and has straps to hold baby in...and best of all it was around $30. It works great This:
FP healthy care booster - we take it everywhere! It's very lightweight and small, easy to carry too. We toss it in the car just incase a restaurant doesn't have a highchair or when we the neighbor watches DS. We got it as a gift, I wasn't sure we'd use - we do all the time.

I highly recommend this chair. My son loves it and has been so good when we go out to eat. He hated the restaurants wooden high chairs - he would cry and I would end up holding him the whole time. The Fischer Price chair keeps him so occupied with all the toys - we've used it about 6 times now and he's been very content the whole time while in it.

We have this one and love it. I just keep it in the car all the time. She can sit in a booth with us which is nice and it weighs around 2 lbs and folds up. It takes less than 30 seconds to put on the table- it's great!
