PSA: New booster seat law

Today, May 15, the Governor of Minnesota signed into law a booster seat bill.  The bill requires children who are both under the age of 8 and less than 4?9? tall to be placed in an appropriate child restraint.  The law takes effect July 1, 2009.

Re: PSA: New booster seat law

  • There are adults that are barely 4ft 9in tall! The height thing seems a little high.

  • It sounds to me that it is if you are under 4'9'' and under the age of 8.  As soon as you hit one of the two then the law no longer applies....that is the way I am reading it
  • Yeah, pretty sure it is either/or not both.
  • yes, it is not like the rear facing law of 20 lbs AND 1 year. It's 8 years OR 4'9".

But, adults that are under that height most likely need some sort of assistive device to make a seat belt correctly fit them as well. A seatbelt that does not fit properly can do more harm than good in an accident.
