I just wanted to tell you how much your post below Re: Your Accomplishments inspired me. Especially the part about teaching your son good habits by always having a book in your hand. I'm a single mom in school full time and I've really been struggling with the feeling that I'm not paying enough attention to my DC because I feel like I always have a book in my hand. I never thought of it as setting a good example. Thanks for the inspiration!
Re: **hav2run**
I have to agree, hav2run! Just reading your post made me feel tired for all you made it through. But your son will be a better person for it (I'm sure you can already tell he is) and I'm sure that having you as a role model has made more of a difference than you'll ever know. It will for Brenna, too. Good for you!
Nire99, the same goes for you. You'll pull through this situation and your kids will always remember how strong you were for them during this time and after-- esp. your DD because she's older. Hang in there.
Aww, thanks! I am very proud of getting through and not ever thinking about giving up. I am reaping the rewards from those grueling years right now. It was so worth it.
Nire99-I felt exactly the way you do. My son was a little older than your kids, so he was old enough to know that I was skimping on the attention at times (especially when a big exam or paper was coming due). I let him play his PlayStation way more than I wanted to, but he was happy. Your kids will be fine. Just make quality time for them and study when they can do things to entertain themselves. I spent many late nights studying until 2 am after DS was in bed because I spent the evening at a ball game or other fun activity with DS.
So, you now have a cheerleader on this board. I have been there, and I know how it feels. You are a great Mom! You are insuring your children's future by furthering your education and career. If that isn't a characteristic of a great parent, I don't know what is. Your babies are young enough that they won't give it a second care in a few years, so don't beat yourself up over it. Quality time is much better than quantity of time anyway. I wish you all the luck as you get through this. If you ever need someone to talk/vent with, feel free to email me at hav2run@hotmail.com
