What do you "let go" now?

Meaning, since you've had a child, what things do you "let slide" now?

 *  I admittedly don't shave my legs as often as I should.  When I shower usually I have DD in the room so I try to make it as quick as possible.  Now that it's summer I'm going to have to pick it back up!

*  I used to paint my nails all the time, but now I rarely do.

*  Buying clothes for myself.  Just doesn't happen that often!

There are plenty of things I do to take care of myself, but there are things that aren't as important to me anymore that I just let slide.  I'm sure there are more things I'm not thinking about too!

Re: What do you "let go" now?

  • I guess it's different since my DD is older now, but when she was about 6 months old I wasn't shaving my legs as much either, lol, not to mention it was winter when she was around that age.

I'm also getting better about buying clothes and things for myself.  I used to be horrible about it b/c I love spoiling DD, and would even spend my own birthday money and gift cards on her instead of myself.  It really irritates DH though, so I've tried to stop doing that, and other people have caught on to it as well so instead of giving me money or Target gift cards they are giving me things I can only use for myself.

Aside from that, time with my friends, but it was really that way as soon as I got married.  Out of my close friends only 1 is married and has children and she doesn't exactly live nearby.  Once I have this baby (ANY DAY) I am promising myself that I am going to hang out with nestie moms/kids more often.

  • I rarely buy clothes for myself. ?I also slack getting my nails and hair done (and it shows!)

I would love to go to the dentist but am having a devil of a time scheduling a cleaning. ?One certainly can't take a baby to the dentist and DH travels quite a bit. ?It makes doctors appointment virtually impossible.?

  • I rarely buy clothing.  I have no choice now that hot weather is around the corner, but I am dragging my feet because I am starting to lose more weight from exercising.

You should see the paperwork pile in front of me.  I avoid it like the plague.  I have some work stuff that needs doing, but I would rather play with DD.

I also leave the house without makeup on all the time.  Trying to get better about that though.  I still get my pedicures and hair done regularly.

I've bought clothes simply because nothing fit.  My entire body reshifted and pants that once fit no longer did until just a few weeks ago.

But what have I let go?

-household paperwork.  I used to be compulsive about it and now I'm not.  I am typing over bills that need to be paid in the next few days.  My checkbook is not balanced to the penny, and I have flex spending money that needs to be filed.

-general cleaning... not as good at it as I used to be

-keeping my purse organized.  It's a disaster and it NEVER EVER was before

-and this may sound really ridiculous but dh and I hardly have time for sex anymore... not good at all

All of those things I (we) need to get better at...

  • At 6 months I wasn't shaving or doing a whole heck of a lot other than trying to look human, haha!

But now that DD takes longer and more reliable naps, I can shower and actually "get done" on weekends. The things I still let go are sometimes drying my hair. We've given up on buying ourselves clothes. I'm on a "kid's clothes" mindset where I look at a great sweater for me for $60 and think of how many outfits that would get DD at Carter's. So I need to get over that!
