Hotsling ????

What is the difference between the sizes?? I've seen size 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Do you think this is something I could use now. Ayden is 10 months old and is going through a faze where he likes to be held and not away from us. I'm guessing separation anxiety?!?! Just curious if it is something worth purchasing. He weighs 20 lbs and it's hard doing things one handed. Although, I have to same i'm pretty good at it. =)

 TIA

Hope everyone is enjoying this nice weather. While it lasts.

Re: Hotsling ????

  • I didn't care for the Hotsling. The sizing was strange to me. I ordered one size up from what it said I should order, just in case, and it was still so tight that DD was uncomfortable in it. I think it might be better for small infants and less for older infants, but that's just my opinion. Hope you get better responses from those who have used it with older infants!

  • Are there any other suggestions for older infants. Ayden is also 29 in. if that makes any difference.

  • I wouldn't use a hotsling now, it was better for us when he was smaller.  We got a mei tai carrier from https://www.sweetslings.net and really like it.  It is comfy for me and Ethan - you can use it as a front carry with baby facing towards you or a back carry.  I like this website because she will custom create your carrier for you with the fabrics you like, and you can also buy just a fabric cover to go over your primary carrier, so you can get a different look for a much cheaper price.

I would also like to get one of the Beco carriers: https://www.becobabycarrier.com/.  The Beco has buckles, and the mei tai has fabric that you tie.  The Ergo carriers are popular too.

  • I love my hotsling!  I use it with DS now.  When he was younger I needed the size up from what it said and now that he is older, I could use the correct size but I just twist it at the shoulder now and it works great (DS was a big infant :-).  Good luck in what you decide!
Our kids are 19mths apart and we LOVE it!!

DS born 2.14.08. DD born 9.30.09.

  • I loved my Hotsling as well, but I will say that Ava did not carry for BWing once she turned mobile, so we only used it up until about 8 months of age.  We did use it in both positions though, and didn't have any problems and the sizing depends on you not the size of your DC.

  • my hotsling is ok - I used it a bunch when she was tiny.  I used it at the reds game this past weekend & it worked well, but it's pretty snug

I've heard wonderful things about the ergo, beco butterflyII, and pikkolo.  I'm trying them out at a store in Columbus on Monday and can't wait to purchase one!!  They all carry front or back (pikkolo is the only one that they can face out), and hold like up to 45 lbs.

Do some online research, I found a bunch of sites that compared different ones side to side.

  • I did not like the Hotsling at all.  DD hated it and I was uncomfotable with her in it.  I had a size 3, which fit well.  The size choice is based on mom's measurements, and be sure to add a bit to their size charts if you have a larger chest.  I liked my Moby much more when DD was little, and I love the Ergo now.

If you really want a Hotsling, I saw some today at TJ Maxx for $16.
