**I MUST defend Evan..............

we attempted the playdate today but it didn't go well and we had to leave.

I swear he normally isn't that bad but I knew it wasn't going to be good when:

  • H had to wake him up this morning.
  • He got carted to his work, then I went to my old work to kill some time with him
  • He was hungry and it was nap time
  • He hasn't been in a similar place before and not around a lot of kids since he hasn't been allowed until really just 2 months ago.

Please don't think he is normally like that and please let us attend more playdates - that is what he needs.  I talked to my H and dad and told them what happened and I think we are going to look in having him go to someplace like that to get use to it because we don't want him to be shy and afriad of everything.

Ok, thanks for listening :)

  • Poor Evan!  I am the same way when Elena isn't acting like her usual happy self.  I feel like I need to let everyone know she is usually a good girl.  They all have their moments and I'm sure no one at the play date thought anything of it.  Smile
  • You are fine Denise!!  Ethan was being so clingy and he usually isn't like that either.  I think sometimes it's overwhelming for them being so little in a big group.  I'm glad you could come and spend a little bit of time there.  We are always up for a playdate!!  You could also look into library story/singalong times because they are usually shorter (the one in Fairfield is about 20 minutes) and that may be easier for him to get used to at first.

  • It was fine Denise :-)  None of us think you or him are bad.  DS was more clingy today also and he usually goes to storytime at the library so not sure why.  Kids have good days and bad days just like we do :-)  It was great seeing you though and glad you could come out for a little bit :-)
Our kids are 19mths apart and we LOVE it!!

AWWW....Evan was fine!  We all understand.  Caleb wasn't too thrilled about the structure.  He just wanted to run and play!  I don't know what part of town you live in, but Caleb and I really like Jumpin Joey's in Milford.  We go sometimes for open play.....which is probably why Caleb just wanted to run around.  We usually go in the afternoon (1ish) and it is pretty empty.  I'm off Tuesdays and Fridays.  I don't know what your schedule is like, but we would love to hang out with other mommies and kiddos on a rainy afternoon!

  • Don't worry about it! I think they pretty much all had their moments. Ellie was having a pretty nice meltdown at lunch herself until her food arrived. That's a lot of stimulation. Add in a little hunger or fatigue and it would be overwhelming for anybody.

  • Denise, don't worry about it! I barely noticed Evan being fussy, I just noticed you guys were gone :-)
  • I was bummed that you all had to leave but I understand completely. Nora gets overwhelmed like that pretty frequently too. I was happy to see you all! We'd love to play with Evan again soon.

  • I totally understood - we have all been there. I didn't think a thing of it.
