Daytime Sleep ?

I know some people say never wake a sleeping baby, but I've heard other people say to wake LO if she sleeps more than 3 hours during the day to avoid day/night confusion. ?This may seem like a silly question, but does that mean wake her if she's been asleep for more than 3 hours or if it's been more than 3 hours since the last time she ate?

DD is asleep right now (she woke for the dat at 5:30am... lucky me). ?She's been asleep for only an hour and a half, but it's been 3 1/2 hours since the last time she ate. ?Should I wake her or let her go. ?She woke early and took a long morning nap on Wednesday and was super cranky the rest of the day. ?It could have been something else, but you just don't know.?

Re: Daytime Sleep ?

  • I always kind of wonder about this too... I usually get him up to feed him if it's been three hours...four in the evening when we use formula.  The doctor told us yesterday that at night we can just let him wake up when he's hungry now...sorry I know that's not really helpful!

  • Not sure if this will help but here's what I am trying...

I don't let her go more then 4 hours between feedings. But I also don't generally let her sleep for more then 2.5 hours at a time during the day.

She wakes up, eats, we do an activity for about an hour (walk, lay on her back, etc.) sometimes less if she's fussy, then I put her to sleep. We try to repeat this routine through out the day. At night we don't do an activity. She just falls asleep.  I found that when she took longer naps during the day she was super fussy in the evening. From about 5-9pm she would fuss, no screaming, just couldn't settle for longer then 5 mintues. Then much harder to put to sleep for the night too.
