f/u to insurance and NT scan question

So, I called my insurance company this morning and they said the NT scan IS covered.  When I called the scheduling nurse armed with what they said, she put me on hold and then came back on and said "Oh, yes, it is covered".  Well yeah.  That's what I just told YOU!

Well, at least I got my original time slot back after all that!

Thanks for everyone who responded to my original question.  You made me feel empowered.  You ladies are the best!

Re: f/u to insurance and NT scan question

  • Good thing you called, I was thinking about that as I responded to your post down below.  I remember a couple of times I had to go for appointments and being told something wouldn't be covered by the ins and then when I would call the ins they would tell me the complete opposite. I've gotten in the habit of calling them just to be on the safe side and for my own info.  You may also want to ask them(just in case you haven't)if they cover the genetics counselor visit.  Mine didn't cover it and I got stuck with a huge bill. Glad everything worked out!

  • Oh, that's good news! I am glad you got your appt back.
  • I'm so glad you called.  I couldn't understand how your insurance wouldn't cover it... so glad they will.
