And my doc told me I have PCOS. Said I have "cottage cheese, Tahitian pearls"..........Did a vag us and told me that my eggs are not maturing. We have been ttc now for 8 months and this was all very hard to hear.
He wants to put me on 200 mg Proetrium for 7 days and then start 50 mg clomid on dat 3 of my cycle for 5 days....
Have any of you ladies taken these? I know pcos if probably common. I guess I just didn't want to admit I had a "problem" getting pregnant.
Any advice, personal experiences would be appreciated...Thanks...
Re: Just had my annual checkup...pcos
Hello...I'm sorry you are going through this. I am on my 2nd cycle of Clomid for annovulation. The Clomid did help me to ovulate last cycle but BFN and I'm waiting to ovulate this cycle.
Plenty of women get pregnant with PCOS. Good luck!

I was put on Clomid two months ago. I have PCOS because my rarely ovulate (everything else is fine). I didn't O on 50mg or on 100mg, so next cycle ( should start in a couple of days) hopefully 150mg will work.
My doc also told me Clomid makes your cycles more regular.
Thanks...I appreciate your support...
Me too, GL!!
Have you had any day 3 blood work done yet? or an HSG?
I would get day 3 b/w done. I was put on metformin before clomid.
Thanks for your response...It just really sucks when it happens to you, you know? I really hope this 2nd cycle you get your BFP...:)
Was your PCOS confirmed by u/s?
Hey there. Sorry about the DX.
There's a handful of PCOS girls on here, but there's also a really great website called www.soulcysters.net. It's awesome and has message boards for all types of PCOS conditions and treatments.
I also highly recommend the book PCOS and Your Fertility by Collette Harris. Awesome read and great advice.
Good luck!
(Side note, whenever I think about cottage cheese ovaries, I feel a little
I looked them up online once and... GROSS!)
Thanks...Yeah, he wants me to go back on day 12 for an u/s....
I have PCOS, too.
After 1 year of TTC with no success, I was dx'd with PCOS and put on Metformin.
After six months of no ovulation with Met alone, we did a couple of rounds of Clomid.
Clomid was a mofo to my body, so we took a break from it but kept with the Met.
On a Clomid-Break Cycle (using Met only), I miraculously ovulated on my own, AND got pregnant.
PCOS can make it more difficult and/or make the process longer, but it is NOT a death sentence and it is possible to get pregnant!
Good luck!
PS: If you are going on Clomid, make sure that you get monitored. If it's not offered, press for it. If they refuse, change docs. You need to be monitored.
No. Bloodwork.
I know what you mean. Have you thought about charting your BBT and CM? Also, if you haven't already, read Taking Charge of Your Fertility...really great insight into you body. Thank you and good luck to you!

Thanks for your response....I really hope the 150mg will work for you! btw, where in Texas are you?? I'm in Dallas..
No, he didn't do blood work..just the u/s...You think I should get that done before starting the meds??
I am in Vernon. Its an hour west of Wichita Falls and two hours from Dallas.
Oh awesome! Thanks for the website info..I will have to check that out.
and lol....yes my cottage cheese ovaries were not pretty on the u/s either...
I know exactly where Vernon is! My parents are in Wichita Falls..I went to HS is Burkburnett! Wow, small world...
WOW! Thats crazy!
Oh wow..thanks for sharing your story. Congrats on ovulating on your own and getting pregnant..That's awesome.
See, that's what I'm scared of...I told my doc that I'm scared of taking clomid. He said "i've been doing this for 25yrs, and have had wonderful success with clomid and pcos." He does want to monitor e very closely though while on it..
No reason to be afraid if you are comfortable with your Dr and he knows what he's doing, and it sounds like he does. If clomid won't work or it thins your lining, overstims, etc, there are defiantly other options. Plus you will know how it is effecting you and what your next step should be sooner since your dr is staying on top of it. You can always try metformin first, it can take a little longer, but it's an easier option for sure.
I was curious as I have often been asked if I had a u/s done to confirm. I have irregular cycles (6 months w/ no O & counting) and have an abnormal LH:FSH ratio but that's it so far. That seems like pretty good confirmation to me, but I could be wrong.
My doc confirmed the same way as well. He just did bloodwork and when I went back for my appt the next month to see if it worked he also felt my ovaries to make sure they didin't overstimulate.
That is great to hear!
It might be a good idea to put you on Metformin if you're insulin resistant (most PCOS girls are). Ask the doc about it.
Also, if you are worried about the Clomid, ask your doctor about Femara. It's also an ovulation inducer but it has less side-effects that Clomid.
Some docs will make you take Clomid first ('cause it's cheap and works well), but it doesn't hurt to ask about it!
I would, just because I don't like taking more drugs then I have to! Like I am on Metformin since I have somewhat high blood sugar & testosterone. I know I wanted to know everything I could about my type of PCOS before taking drugs. JMO
I would also check out this website!

Thank you so much for your responses...I will have to call my doc on Monday and see what he says...It's nice to know that I have a few more options...Thanks..
Thank you so much for all of your positive feedback.. It's nice to know I'm not alone....The website looks awesome...I may lurk for a little while..
Again...thanks for your support....
i got dx with PCOS also. really sucks. but atleaset there is still hope. I did 4 rounds of clomid, all BFN, all unmonitored. I started meeting with a RE and we will be doing clomid cd3-7 and IUI.
GL to you. There are some great websites with lots of info on PCOS. also, a great chat board on soulcysters.com .
