There are a couple things on my mind and if anyone wants to comment on them please feel free.
What insurance company/plan do you have and what do you expect to pay for maternity? ?Anyone particularly pleased or displeased with their company?
Also, it looks like we are the patient base of AICGB! ?Cool. ?
Oh, and has anyone been to a Boston Guerilla Queer Bar event? ?They sound fun but I haven't gone to one yet so I am curious.

by all means, you should try one out, to see for yourself. the positive is that i found a more diverse age range. but, as will all gay bars/clubs/ect, its mostly boys. Do you have Girl Twirls in mass?

We haven't even looked into what our insurance covers yet. We are assuming all TTC expenses to be out of pocket. Some plans will cover IUIs if you try for 6 or 12 months with no success - don't know which ones. As far as regular prenatal care, I'm thinking of sticking with the Midwives at Mt Auburn, where I go for gyne, which are included in our insurance (Tufts/Cigna).
Never done Guerilla Gay Bar, but it seems pretty fun. I'm totally clueless on gay nightlife - sorry!
There are others from the Nest board that have used/are using AICGB too!

I know that AI will be out of pocket, but what about maternity care? ?That is what I am looking for. ?I own my practice so I can choose my plan, but pay for all of it. ?I am swamped in plans right now and trying to decide.?Tufts, Harvard, BCBS? ?
I don't know whether I will continue care with the Midwives at Mount Auburn because I will be moving to Essex County mid-pregnancy which would make Cambridge almost an hour away.

All of the big names have similar track records in terms of customer service, claims processing, coverage policies, ect. Aside from that, its completely up to you (or in our case, our employer) to determine how much or how little coverage there will be in the specific policy.
Its totally a numbers game in which you have to compare premiums to coverage to potential out of pocket expenses so you can determine the best choice. Most people play the risk vs cost game blindly (ie - have no idea if they are going to get sick this year or not), but we have the advatage of knowing our expected large medical expenses.
I would just make a spread sheet listing the premiums and the maternity coverages of each company so you can see which is offering you the least out of pocket expense.
