Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When did you first leave DC overnight somewhere?

We have a wedding to attend next weekend (along with rehearsal dinner the night before). MIL suggested that we leave DD with them for the two days (rehearsal is on Sat evening, wedding on Sunday at 4pm) - I don't think it's necessary, we were planning on having MIL watch Sasha on Sat night, and my dad on Sunday.

But it got me thinking... Am I being a bit overprotective? Should I start leaving DD overnight to at least get her comfortable sleeping somewhere else? When did you first leave DC?

  • With my mom, they both love it, DD didnt sleep well the first night but now she sleeps like she is at home.

  • 4 months old.  We left her with my parents for 2 nights

5 months old.  We left her with my parents, in our home in D.C. for 3 nights.

Both times were for weddings we were in.

  • We left DS with my parents for a weekend when he was 5 months old when we went to the beach for DH's birthday. I will admit I was nervous about it but he did great... and I like having the option of leaving him over-night if we need to since I know he was ok there.

  • We haven't yet
  • 3.5 months old with his g'ma so we could go away overnight... It was fun, but I missed him so much!   It was only one night.
  • About a month ago Ian went to the IL's for the weekend b/c we went to a wedding out of town.  A couple of weeks before that he went to my parents' house for 1 night.  He was fine!  I think leaving her overnight here and there is a great idea to get her used to it.

  • She was just about 4 mos and we left her with my in-laws for 2 nights b/c we were in a wedding on my side of the family. She was fine but I was not - I missed her so much! Since then she stayed over my parents one night last month when we went to AC for DH's 30th birthday.
