I have been lurking for a bit and I thought I would ask this of you all, did any of you intentionally lose weight before TTC? According to my GYN and I agree I should lose 20lbs.
I am off the pill this month and we want to TTC (for our first baby) starting in August. I started my weight loss program and lost 4lbs. this week. So I am off to a good start.
Did your weight loss help you TTC?
Thanks!
Re: Weight loss before baby
I am actually doing the opposite.
I have Grave's Disease [hyperthyroid], and I am trying to gain weight. ?5-10 lbs to be exact.
Either way, it is hard.
Actually, I am reading The Fertility Diet, and I really like it. ?You may find it interesting. ?It talks about overall health then specifically TTC health.?
Seeing that you only want to lose 20lbs I would say that as long as you are in good health it shouldn't really be an issue. Even for some obese women TTC is not a problem when they are in good health, eat right and excersise.
For me I would like to lose 30lbs before getting KU but its more just for my personal goal. Anything you can lose will help out when your carrying around extra baby weight.
I tried to eat healthier and get more exercise while TTC (not necessarily to lose weight but to feel healthier) but I don't know if it really helped (still took over a year to conceive a "sticky" baby and I was 10 pounds heavier than when I started TTC).
Great job with the weight loss so far and good luck in the future!
