S/O Being annoyed with moms....(vent)

Mine always has something negative to say!! Yesterday she tells me before she goes to see my Grandmother she wants me to tell her how to look up my baby registry so they can go shopping later. While we're talking she goes down the list and tells me why I won't need this or that....or why this or that is stupid, too expensive, I won't use, etc.! If you don't want to buy off the registry don't ask to see it!!

Thanks for letting me vent!

    My mom has good days and bad days. Today is good, she was very positive on the phone (which is good since she's on her way up here on the train). But when I first registered all she did was tell me how she hated the colors of everything, the stuff I picked was stupid and cheap because it was from BRU and not Pottery Barn and that no one would buy anything from the registry. What is it with moms?

    Lol, I don't know! Nothing obviously is good enough on the registry but mine has randomly brought stuff over from the flee market....Huh?

    Vent away!

    My mom never comes right out and criticizes...she cheerfully and helpfully suggests something else. She now has 3 very grown daughters who have difficulty making up their own minds.

    I'd rather have the straight criticism over the suggestions....or, better yet, happy supportive agreement.

    Oh boy, used flea market items? Mine has not gone that far yet. But she did try to give me some wool handknitted pants someone made for my brother when he was a baby. I was like, yeah, wool pants, great for California... barf. Oh, and an old sweater of mine that is basically a moth hotel. THANKS!! That's WAY nicer than the new stuff they have at BRU.

    My mom can be awesome and wonderful and I cannot appreciate her enough. But there are other times that I just want to ignore her and call her once the baby is here!

    She doesn't get that things are different now than when she last had a baby - 25 years ago!

    She is so excited to be a grandma - I know she cannot help it!

    Mine has called me 8 times today. I already answered once too! I feel horrible, but I just don't have the time to talk every day. Sometimes I like having some time to myself. Also, I tend to get freaked out when she calls more than a few times thinking something really important has happened- but she's done this so many times now, and it rarely is anything. Normally she's bored, she wants to talk about her upcoming trip or talk baby stuff with me. I love you mom, but seriously, I do like talking to you and I would call on my own.
