I am in the middle of the unabridged version of Les Miserables. I love it, but a lot of people find it boring or too political. But I've been throwing in hours of reading the full fairy tale works of the Brothers Grimm, which are definitley going to be read to my babies!
ETA: The original stories by the Brothers Grimm, not the edited/changed versions you see everywhere...

I picked up a copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula on the cheap at a used bookstore, and I'm pleasantly surprised to report that it is very scary and creepy - I figured it would be dry and boring.
I just finished (this am) The Boy In The Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. It was excellent. It's an easy read but just a warning, it is about the Holocaust.
I'm 1/3 of the way through Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. ::snort, pushes up fake glasses:: Do not ask me how many times I've read it. I'm not sure.
I'm also reading WTEWYE (I hate it... since on the first trimester chapters), The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis and Atonement.

I just finished The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory ... I'm a history nerd, lol. I skimmed a lot of pages .... I liked The Other Boleyn Girl better.
Alison Weir's The Lady Elizabeth was the most excellent historical fiction novel I've ever read, though.

I just finished a good series -- by Lauren Willig and the first book has "Pink Carnation" in the title. They were historical fiction about spies in England/France and they are kind of suspenseful and kind of romantic because two main characters always get together in each book.
I also recommend Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. Something Blue is the follow up book and it is AMAZING but you have to read the first one first.
I am trying to read Angels and Demons right now since the movie comes out tomorrow but I'm not liking it as much as I thought.. sometimes it kind of creeps me out and I've been such a wimp lately about scary stuff.

OMG my favorite Philippa Gregory book is The Constant Princess. I TOTALLY recommend it to anyone, it is amazing and I loved it.
I'm re-reading The Reader, but last year I fell in love with Haruki Murakami - he is, without a doubt, the greatest writer of our time. The Wind Up Bird Chronicles is his most well-known, but I ADORED Kafka On the Shore. So, so so so so good.

I did not like Angels & Demons at all. I don't even remember the plot but I remember thinking that it was just gratuitously violent. Is gratuitously a word? Yeah. I didn't like it. I didn't like Da Vinci Code either - I thought it was overrated. JMO!

Hmm now wondering if I should just give it up and skip to the next book on my list (Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger). I liked Da Vinci Code but I read it years ago when I still liked creepy things. Now I've decided real life is creepy enough and I should just read lighthearted things.
I can't do creepy things either, my anxiety won't let me. I especially avoid them now while pg, b/c it seems my brain "filters" are turned off and everything can just go wild in there!
I WAS reading Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake vampire hunter series, but I stopped b/c they were creepy. They're pretty okay ... but I'm trying to get to the sex. rofl. At least I'm honest!!!

if you're in the mood for a "beach read" type of book, I just finished a quick fun read: Everyone Worth Knowing, by Lauren Weissberger (author of Devil Wears Prada).
Otherwise, some of my favorites are Water for Elephants, The Red Tent, The Namesake, and The Mermaid Chair.
"For a long time there were only your footprints & laughter in our dreams & even from such small things, we knew we could not wait to love you forever."

Speaking of vampires, I started reading "The Historian" like 6 months ago because it looked so interesting/suspenseful/awesome. So like 30 pages in, I was scared so I didn't keep reading.

I love The Secret History of the Pink Carnation and its sequels. There's a brand new one out - The Temptation of the Night Jasmine.
Phillipa Gregory is wonderful and Sharon Kay Penman writes awesome historical fiction. She focuses on the Plantagenets.
I just finished Climbing the Mango Tree and it was really good. It's a memoir of a childhood in India - the writer came of age during Partition.
I'm reading "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." My DH bought it for me and it is HILARIOUS. This guy took the text of Pride and Prejudice and has added a background story of a zombie infestation in the English countryside.
I recently read "Outlander" and really enjoyed it. It's not exactly historical fiction, but you'd probably like it if that's your thing. And I second "The Constant Princess."
For beach reading, I enjoyed the "Something Borrowed" and the next few, but just read "Love the One You're With" and hated it. I think the husband reminded me of my DH, though, and that's why.
For vampire books, I really liked, "The Historian." And if you read the Twilight series and want something similar, check out "Wicked Lovely."
I know that a lot of people love Jodi Picoult, but I have to say that I cannot figure out why at all. I read "My Sister's Keeper" and thought it was the most overwrought, badly written POS. I feel like I must be missing something.

oh, that book SUCKED. Her worst, IMO. Pick up a different one -- Plain Truth is very, very good.
I liked alot of Jodi Picoults till all the once i was reading seemed to be court room drama's but still they were worth reading. Still have ninteen min on my list of reads... maybe i will pick it up next.
Right now im reading Lovely Bones by Alice Seabold (sp?) almost done and its pretty good.
Little Earthquakes, and The Penny Tree were my last reads and they were both really good. May actually read Little Earthquakes again now that im pregnant, since the characters were either pregnant or had kids recently

Anything by Jodi Picoult.
Nineteen Minutes is my favorite of hers, but I just finished Keeping Faith.

Ditto. Jemima J is my favorite.
