I just got back from my routine Dr appt today and don't feel so great about myself. I know it's nothing really big, and my Dr said it's normal, but still not feeling the best about it. I have gained a total of 19.5 lbs in 5 1/2 months. Which my Dr said is fine and normal. He said he wants me to gain a total of 30-35lbs for the whole pregnancy. Which will put me under well under 200lbs thankfully. With that being said, I have gained 9lbs this month alone. the other months it has been 3-5lbs. I am not feeling very happy that I gained that much weight this past month. My Dr said it's ok because everyone has that month where they gain more he called it the "big month" but still 9lbs! He said just to make sure I am not overdoing salty or high in sodium things, and also watch eating out. Of course what I crave half the time is cheeseburgers, chips and top ramen. Not saying I eat those all the time at all, just saying that's what I crave. Any thoughts on this or how you delt with the weight gain would be appreciated. The only good thing I have noticed so far is the weight isn't in my thighs, legs or butt. I can still fit into my non pregnant pants, just can't button or zip them. And "the girls" have gone from a 34Aish to a 38B. (I just bought a new bra last night because they weren't really staying in if you know what I mean.)
Re: I feel really fat now!
I'm sorry! Don't feel bad though. All you can do is try to eat as healthy as you can and try and move your body a little every day. Every woman is different. I was at dinner last night with my mom and aunt and they were comparing weight gain during their pregnancies... my aunt gained 25 pounds with each of her kids. My mom gained 40 pounds with me and 65 pounds with my brother!!! She went from 130 to 195!! She said she was back down to 140 within 4 months though. Your body is an amazing machine and as long as you take care of yourself, your body will do what it needs to.?
I have craved a lot of bad stuff this pregnancy too, and I give in sometimes but try to keep healthy stuff around so that often I have an apple or some yogurt to fill myself up and put off my cravings for a while.
My goal was to stay within 30 lbs, but that is where I am now and I still have 5 more weeks. We'll see!
?
Thanks! I am really trying when it comes to eating. I also have been craving fruits and veggies like crazy too. And I must say I have been doing really well with eating healthly. I work at nursing home too so the nurses here make sure to keep me on track too. =] I guess I am just having my first weight funk.
I know everyone is different with weight. And I know my body will do fine. It didn't really help that after my appt when I got to work someone told me I don't look cute pregnant today, just pregnant because they didn't like the shirt I was wearing because it didn't hug my belly the right way. Needless to say I started crying.
What? That's so horrible. What gives anyone the right to say something like that? ?
There were weeks when I gained 9lbs! Your belly looks adorable and if your OB isn't concerned, don't worry.
But I get that seeing the numbers go up and up is hard. I got crap from a former friend for having a hard time with the gain--she took it to mean I wasn't excited to be a mom. Crazy excited to be a mom,, not so excited to be well over 200lbs. I guess I dealt with it by thinking it was only temporary. And it was! The hardest was when the maternity jeans I bought at 6 weeks that were huge in the tush became too tight to wear sometime around 34 weeks. I got pregnant everywhere!
I was thinking the same thing. My boss and I are really close so I told her what was said and she had this shocked look on her face. And I know I will lose it when the time comes. It is just hard at one point to see that scale going up. I think the other part for me is I was always overweight as a kid so I am extra sensative when people comment on me like that. I also was starting weight watchers up again before I found out I was having the baby to lose those few more lbs I wanted gone. I had been doing it before and lost 20lbs. I am so thankful I lost those 20lbs before. But thanks ladies for all the positive talk. I think it's just one of those days if you know what I mean.
well, I'm right there with you. I've gained about 22 pounds at this point, and I'm just a few weeks ahead of you! I gained 50 with DD! I was so hoping to not do that again. My Dr said to really watch your beverages, especially suggary ones. . That they are the #1 thing that creaps up your PG weight gain with extra/empty calories.
Last PG'y, I had a Starbucks caramel frappuccino EVERYDAY. (well, in the warm months... I delivered in late July) Now I have them too, but I get the *light* version with 1/3 fewer calories. (I was having those on WW too, for 3 points) My downfall is Tang. Yes, Tang! I drink a huge glass everyday. The container says it's got 50% less sugar than 100% fruit juice, but I think at the rate I'm drinking it, it's gotta be bad. lol
My goal too is to stay under 200. I sure hope!
?
Ain't that the truth?! For me it was 33 weeks when all my clothes stopped fitting. I am down to 2 pairs of yoga pants and a skirt which it's too cold to wear right now. Almost none of my shirts cover my belly. But I refuse to buy any more clothes just to get me through a month.
It's funny because at the beginning of my PG I wanted all sweet drinks. OJ, lemonade and I wanted soda so bad!!! I couldn't really drink water because it made me sick. Thankfully though I am back to drinking water and love it but also love lemonade and sweet tea. I also have been having a craving for fraps. So thanks for the tip if I get them. I usually am not a coffee drinker. My goal is to stay under 200 as well. We have a good goal to share with that! If I need any fellow WW support I am coming your way lol. Thanks =]

We have all totally been there. You are doing great, you look great in your pics. Don't stress, that is way worse for you then gaining a little too much weight one month. I gained 5 pounds in two weeks. Then I gained nothing for two months in a row. It all evens out in the end.
And FYI--I ate cheeseburgers, french fries, and ice cream way too much!! Just don't go overboard and you should be fine! You look great!!

And it should be known that I am not a skinny girl that can eat whatever I want!! I had to clarify that. I definately could stand to lose more then my baby weight (if you know what I mean...) ::wink, wink::
