3rd Trimester

Kicked in the crotch feeling?

Anyone else have the feeling like they've been kicked really hard from the outside? I called the nurse line b/c I've been having mild to moderate menstrual type cramping with a lower backache and she told me to lie down, drink water, and make sure I have 10 kicks in an hour, but after I got off the phone I started to have pain/pressure like I've been kicked from the outside. Anyone else experience this type of pain? If it doesn't subside I will definitely call back but just seeing if anyone had any insight (I'm sure I'm a first timer over-reacting).

Re: Kicked in the crotch feeling?

  • Yeah I get that too.  Not sure what it is though.  Let me know if you find out what it is.

  • I feel like I'm being kicked in the crotch from the inside - DS's head is butting up to my cervix, and every time he stretches it causes excruciating pain.  Not sure what the pain from the outside would be - maybe just pressure from LO starting to drop into your pelvis?
  • Yes, i asked my dr today about it. She just said it was normal pregnancy pain, and that it was just the baby moving and getting into position. Things just stretching and making room i guess.
  • I've had it since about 20 weeks. ?It is usually worse if I've been laying down for awhile (like when I get up to pee at night I kind of limp to the bathroom) or if I've been really active. ?

I'd be more concerned if I had some of the other symptoms you are experiencing. ??

  • welcome to the late stages of pregnancy- the "blue twinkie" feeling is from pressure down there... it only gets worse.... and it's the main reason that pg women waddle -b/c their crotch is killing them!

as for the cramping- i get lower ab cramping like period cramps- my OB says it's fine- normal growing pains... if the cramping is up higher in my belly- then i should call.

the back pain is something to stay on top of- many women have lower back problems in pg - b/c of the pressure, etc, but it can also be a sign of labor- so keep an eye on it and other symptoms.
