My doctor gave me the lab slip today to have it done in the next week. So I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm in for. ?I hear it's pretty bad. Anyone....??

You drink some sugar stuff (like 10 oz) and then have your blood drawn an hour later. It's not bad at all.

I had one pre-PG and it was no big deal. Mine was a 2 hour GTT and I had to fast. Sound like the PG one is much easier (only 1 hour and no fasting). Basically just have blood drawn, chug sugary liquid, wait designated period of time, have blood drawn again.

I had my first at 14 weeks. It wasn't fun, but it wasn't awful either. Drank the disgusting orange drink (which is nasty and filled w/ tons of garbage which irritated me since I don't normally eat things w/ artificial coloring, etc) and then waited an hr to get my blood drawn. I felt extremely tired during that hour, which I hear is normal.

I have had it twice before and it wasn't so bad. I don't care for the drink but it isn't horrible. With my dd I had to fast for 12 hours first and that time it was not great. The drink make me feel sick to my stomach and I had to sit around the lab for an hour. With ds I did not have to fast, did the drink at my doctors office, had my appt, then went for the blood draw when my appt was done. This time I have the drink in my fridge and I just need to drink it an hour before I come in. Just follow your doctors instructions, you don't want to have to take it again if you don't need to.

Doesn't sound so bad... glad I asked. ?The nurse at the dr.'s office was like "the drink is horrible... be prepared" ? ? thanks a lot lady...

I don't think it was bad at all!! I just made sure not to eat a lot of carbs for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs and a glass of milk. Mine came back at 97. The highest you can get before failing at my OBs is 140. I was nervous, but the test itself is painless!! I would do it in the morning though!!GL!!!

I am taking my 1 hour today as a matter of fact. I got to choose between the normal orange, a fruit punch flavor (what I picked) and a lime one. I have had the orange one before in a 3 hour that I had to take a few years back and that was terrible.. so my plan is to get a straw stick it very far in the back of my throat and suck it down...

I will let you know later how it went.

This! It's not so bad. I think people convince themselves it's going to be bad. But, on the other hand, I don't have a weak stomach at all, but I still think it's not as bad as many make it out to be.

I had mine last week and it wasn't too bad. Yes the stuff doesn't taste very well. But I downed it in like 3 gulps and then waited my 1 hour. They never called with the results, but I wanted to know for sure that I had passed. The dr said it was perfect at 101.

I have a weak stomach and I have issues regulating my blood sugar and tend to get hypoglycemic and shakey, so I did not have a good experience with my GTT. I could barely get down the drink and I felt like I was going to throw up after...I didn't but I wanted to. I just felt cruddy the rest of the day after the test too. I took tylenol before the drinking the liquid and I am glad that I did because I had a huge headache. Good luck, from what I have seen most people do just fine and don't feel sick at all.
