2nd Trimester

One hour glucose test = fail

Now I get to take the 3 hour. Not looking forward to it. I passed the 1 hour with DD, so I was totally not expecting this.

Oh no! That sucks! Good luck on the next one. If they tell you to eat breakfast before, DON'T!

  • Why do you think you failed?  Just cuz or has this pregnancy been different?  I just ask because I'm nervious about this test.  Not for any real reason, because diabetes does not run in my family and I haven't gained very much weight just makes me nervious because I know the babies can get so big.
  • I had to take an early one hour (14 weeks) because of family history.  I wasn't told to fast but a friend advised that I only eat lean meat and veggies for a day or so before.  NO CARBS or sugar.  I passed so I am hoping that her advise helped.  I also ate breakfast before it, scrambled eggs with ham and cheese.  Good luck!

  • I am really curious about whether changing your eating specifically for the test really is worth it, because if your body is resistant to insulin during your pregnancy (and your regular diet causes spikes in your levels), wouldn't you want to know?

(This, from someone who had GD the first time around, complete with medication and 4x/daily finger sticks, lol.)

I took my one hour yesterday, and they called today to say my sugar was too high and i needed to come back for a 3 hour diagnostic test. From what little I know about it, if the results of this one come back good, I am still ok. But, I also have a family history of diabetes, so I am a little nervous about it now. I have noticed that I have ankel swelling early this time, and I never had that with DD, but I was much more active in that pregnancy, as I was a waitress. So, I always thought that was the reason. No major differences otherwise...

I agree. Do you really want to be trying to rig the results on this test?  I would think you should really know how your body is reacting to your normal habits.
