Vaccination plans for those of you who aren't doing recommended...

I've done some research and I really just want to do the most necessary vaccinations along with spreading them out. Anyone else in this same boat, and if so, do you have specifics about what vaccines you'll be doing, which ones you won't and how you are spacing them out?
Thanks!

  • I've just started reading the Dr. Sears book. I think we'll do most of them, if not all, but I would like to do an alternate schedule where we space them out.

  • i dont know much about this yet, but i've just been warned many times to make sure my baby is not sick or getting over being sick at or anywhere around the time of getting these shots.

  • I am about to start Dr. Sears' vaccine book, which is highly recommended.  If you haven't, I'd start there and decide!
  • i'll be doing all of them on schedule. the office i work for follows the state recommended schedule, but does a modified schedule from 12 months - 18 months that still falls within AAP recommended guidelines.

also, i just found out from our Merck rep that the split measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine is no longer being manufactured, for those that were planning on doing this.

I'm reading Dr. Sears book as well. We'll be doing all the vaccines, but probably on a modified schedule.

  • We will space them all out, probably not do more than 2 in one visit. Plus, I'll be a SAHM so our LO doesn't need them all until she starts school.

  • It's tough. We had really wanted to avoid vaccines unless absolutely necessary, but my job require a lot of international travel, often to places in remote Asian countries. We plan to travel together and bring the baby whenever possible, but that means she'll need vaccines for diseases mostly eradicated here in the States that may be more prevalent in these countries ... I think we've unfortunatly decided that she will need most, if not all, of the recommended ones plus some of the extra ones  Sad
  • We have done only one at a time for DD, and that's what we'll do for baby #2. ?It's less traumatic for both of us. ?Plus, if DD ever had a reaction to a shot (which she hasn't so far), we'd know exactly what it was.
  • I'm going to coodinate and discuss with my pediatrician.  I'm planning on doing them all but not sure which ones or when, but that's what I have a doc for, to assist me with that.
  • Jenny McCarthy's autism organization website has GREAT information on vaccinations and alternate schedules. ?www.generationrescue.org
  • Careful what you read!  Jenny  McCarthy is not necessarily the most widely accepted expert on the subject.  I will be doing whatever my doctor recommends for vaccinations.
