Interviewing

Hi ladies! I have been MIA the last few weeks due to a lot going on at work. I was laid off about three weeks ago. I went on my first interview yesterday. It went well until I didn't see a step and fell. I skinned my knee and twisted my ankle in front of the principal who was interviewing me! Ugg. At least I will be memorable!

?

I do have a question about interviewing while TTC. If I end up getting pregnant before I get a job is that something I should mention to the person I am interviewing with? Or do I wait until I am set with the job? I am a teacher if that makes any difference. Thanks ladies! I hope all has been well here!?

Re: Interviewing

  • Maybe he'll feel obligated to give you the job now so that you won't sue him:)

I teach at a college. When I interviewed for my job I was 8 weeks pregnant and I didn't say a word. I thought at that stage, it was early enough that it was really my own business. Once I got the job, I waited until I was about 14 weeks along and then went to the dept chair and told him I could only teach the fall semester because I was due in January. He was really cool about it and I'm going back to teach there in August. Just my own expereince.....

  • Thanks! That was what I was kind of thinking. When I got home and told DH he said the exact same thing about getting the job! My friend at work said at least you didn't say something like "Oh S***". Especially since I was interviewing with a nun!
  • I am also a teacher and I know that we absolutely have to let someone at the school know if we become pregnant. Most people tell the nurse first and then the principal. It has a lot to do with insurance issues and just in case something happens while you are in school. I don't think it is necessary to bring up during an interview though. Good luck :)
