3rd Trimester

72hr check up?

Went to a breast feeding class last night and she mentioned that after you're discharged, you will have a check up 48-72 hrs later...I was like CRAP!  Does that go to our OB or do I have to call and let our family practitioner know??

What do you think?

Re: 72hr check up?

  • I'm assuming she meant the baby.  I never went back to the OB (or any dr) until I was 6 weeks post-delivery.  Now of course that could be different if there was a concern or complication.

Yep, sorry, the BABY will have a checkup 48-72hrs after discharge.  We're just using our general practitioner, not just a pedi

  • I was told that that first appt for the baby would be set up at the hospital when the pedi does the initial visit.

When we delivered our DD the hospital called the practice we were taking DD to and made the appt for us.  Upon discharge they gave us the appt information.  Of course we could have called to change it, but it was that hospital's way of making sure that an appt was made and we were set up with a pedi/dr.

  • Our Pedi doesn't make visits to our L&D hospital, so they said to just call them after the baby was born to schedule an appointment.
