Ally's post and the responses got me thinking about this again. Ethan is 3 months and still in the pack-n-play beside our bed. He naps in his crib. I think he'd do fine in his room at night because he goes to bed hours before us, alone in our bedroom with no problem at all. The only reason I haven't tried it yet is because he is still unpredictable with sleeping and I didn't want to get out of bed and go across the house to feed him. Especially now that I'm back at work and have to get up early. This week he seems to have finally started to always sleep longer (knock on wood, I am so scared to say this!). For the past week he has slept for 6 hours, then eats once around 3, then I feed him before I go to work and he sleeps some more. Before that he was still sleeping good one night then not the next (up every couple hours so I really didn't want to move him). Anyway, I was originally thinking I would switch him when he slept completely through the night and I didn't have to travel to his room but now I'm not sure I should wait that long. I mean, who knows how long that could take. What did you do?? How did you decide when to make the move?
Also, I'm thinking I could start trying to drop his night feeding soon? I've been reading that you can do that around this time or over the next few months.
Re: When did you move DC to crib?
jax slept in a moses basket in his crib until he was too long for the basket, then just his crib. so he's been in the crib pretty much the whole time. i still have to do the occasional night feeding. he has almost dropped it, but not completely.
but he is on the other side of hte house too. love my video monitor. that way i can tell if he really needs me, or is just making noises.

Well, I moved Evie to the crib the day we came home from the hospital. ? So that doesn't help you. ?But as far as dropping a feeding, that came at about 3 months. ? At that point, we had just one night feeding, which was dropped at around 10 months. ?As a matter of fact, I was still waking up because the less she ate, the more I had to pump.?
Good luck! ?

we moved Lucas to his crib right at 4 months. it was a little tough the first three nights, but just got easier after that. i believe it would have been a lot harder had we waited any longer.
we are still trying to cut out the night feeding, this one has been really hard.
good luck
We moved Colin when he was a week old. We had a cradle that had been passed down and he absolutely hated it. HIs room is right across from ours, so moving was not a big deal. I let him dictate dropping the night feeding. I can't remember exactly when it was, but I know he was older than 4 months.
This probably comes as no consolation to you, but Geneva didn't drop her 3 a.m. feeding until about 10.5 months. I tried and TRIED but she just wouldn't do it.
Geneva was sleeping just as you described - her bedtime routine ALWAYS started at 6:30, but she wouldn't fall asleep for another hour or two. When she did go to sleep, she'd sleep 5 or 6 hours, wake for a feed and then go back to sleep for another few hours.
We moved her into her crib somewhere between 3 and 4 months (closer to 4). We were going through the four month wakeful period (SO not a myth) and figured we might as well fight the battle with the crib while no one was getting any sleep anyway! During that time, she self eliminated her 12-1 a.m. feed. Her bedroom is right next to ours, so it wasn't a big deal to just walk in the next room to get her. We also never used a monitor.
We started Ferber around 5 months and it worked fantastic. She's been the happiest sleeper ever since.
At the advice of our pedi, I moved both kids at 8 weeks. I was going back to work at 12 weeks and wanted to work on STTN so I wouldn't be a zombie. DS was a champ and began STTN at 10 weeks. And when I say STTN, I mean for a period of 6 straight hours without any feedings. I may have put him down at 8pm, woke him up for an 11pm feeding. So like 11pm-5am or Midnight to 6am.
It took DD much longer to be able to STTN. Maybe 5 months? Even though I had dropped the 3am feeding, she was still getting up for it, for months.
