** Sleep-Deprived Mamas Check-In **

....If there are any of us left at this point!! :)

Congrats to MoinMoin, our newest "graduate". I hope we can all join her soon....sigh.

QOTD: What was the longest/best stretch of sleep you got this week?

And feel free to vent away!

Re: ** Sleep-Deprived Mamas Check-In **

  • QOTD: I *think* (it's all a blur at this point) I got a 3.5 hour stretch at some point. But overall, not a great week. My best sleep was ironically on my one night's trip to Vegas!

  • I got 2.5-3 hours, but it beats 45 minutes
  • The longest stretch was 3 hours, I think.

I have a question, are we out if our DC sleeps through the night even once?  My son likes to tease me, by sleeping like 8 hours straight once then not repeat it for over a month, and in the few days after he sleeps, I know it will be some of the absolute worst nights we will have.

Sean's latest thing is that he is awake and babbling(loudly) from 4-5 when I finally go in and try to get him back to sleep.  DH can't sleep through this, so he is now up at 4am and heads to work which leave me with DS that much longer during the day.

Any tips on how to get DS to put himself to sleep?  I still have to nurse him till he is either asleep or so close to sleep that he would pass out anywhere.

  • I think I can graduate also.  Linc has STTN for the past week, and life is great around here.  I am a little worried because we are changing up his meds again, so STTN may be gone, but I am hopeful that he will continue to STTN.  Good luck ladies!  Your time will come eventually...even if your LO is almost 10 months when they finally do STTN!  Wink

  • I think my longest stretch is 3 hours.  But there's hope.

We started sleep training this week, just got through our second night and I think it's going well.

We're using the book "The Sleep Easy Solution" and so far I love it.  But I'll let you know in a few days when either we're sleeping or we're not!

  • Well I am hoping we have turned a corner.  He has only been getting up once per night the past two nights, and Sunday night (his mother's day gift to me) he slept ALL night long...from 8:30 until past when I left for work at 5am:)  I do feel as though it is all too good to be true....

I hope it gets better for all of us though.  And definitely congrats to MoinMoin!!

  • ah thanks you guys! i hope that i'm a graduate, but i might be back here with you all tomorrow. who knows. i'm trying sooo hard to let go of my sleep anxiety.

i'm thinking of all of you and hoping you all get some good sleep soon.

Can I join?  We have 1 stretch of 4-6 hours... and that is when she is on my chest on the couch.  Then we move into my bed, and she is up every 1-2 hours.  I am so tired.

  • My longest was 3.5 hours after we got home from an emergency room visit. DH took DD so I could get some sleep.

Our pedi did tell us at our well visit last week that she has 4 teeth coming in on the top.  So that could be part of our recent issues.

that's exactly how it was with us at that time! dh and i would take turns letting ds sleep on our chests.  we got a sleep positioner and he would sleep on his side (finally).

I have tried the sleep positioner... and she only sleeps a max of 2 hours.. and only during the first stretch.  If I try to put her in there, after her 1st feeding throughout the night, she wakes herself wide awake.  Where did you put the sleep positioner?  I have hers in her basinet... but tried it in my bed with me once a while ago.

I don't even know how many hours we get because I put the clock away long ago. It was too depressing to look at! We've been trying to do bedtimes consistently but she always wakes after 1-2 hrs. Then wakes again not long after I go to bed. Then 2 to 3 wakings during the night. Oh man, naps are so crappy today too :(
  • We have longer stretches these days.  We're up to 5 or 6 hours at a time most nights, but still no sttn in our house.  He will be 14 months old on Friday.  I'm losing hope.  :(

  • oh yeah, I don't know how I missed this check-in. DS goes to bed at 8 and usually wakes up once before midnight. On a bad night he is up again at 2:30 and then at 4:30 and then at 5ish and then at 6:00.  On a good night he is up once before midnight and then at 4:00 and then at 6 (when I feed him and go to work)  The good thing is that he is not up crying for long. In the past it would take 30-45 min or more to put him back to sleep. Now it takes 5 -15 min to get him back to sleep.  We haven't sleep trained. He goes to asleep awake and pretty easily now. it is just hard figuring out what is waking him up.
