Henry is down to one nap. He wakes up between 6 and 7 and generally wants to go down for his nap between 9:30-10:30. I feel like that's really early. What time does your kiddo go down?
DS typically goes down between 11:30 and noon after he eats lunch. This is also how his school does it so we like trying to keep that same schedule. We've been on this schedule since he was about 18 months old.
My DS is just a little bit older than your DS and he is still on 2 naps but I think shortly working his way to 1. I think to help ease off of the early nap, I'm going to try to go out in the morning when he's tired and see if he'll cat nap in the car and then stick to his usual afternoon nap around 1-1:30 or earlier - say 12:30 if he's really cranky. This way he'll not have a big full nap in the morning but perhaps last until the afternoon. I don't know though we'll see. GL

When Mason was around that age he would go down at noon, after lunch. Now he naps from 2-4ish. If he is wanting a nap that early maybe he isn't ready for 1 nap, maybe a good nap and a cat nap?

Evie is on the same schedule. I've tried to graually move her nap later, but if I put her down later she won't sleep as long. I gave up and have just been putting her down when she's tired, and I figure that her nap will move back at some point when she's ready for it.
She does get cranky in the afternoon, so I put her in her crib for about 30 minutes with some books so she can have quiet time. It really helps. She usually lays down and looks at her books without a fuss. It gives both her and I a chance to rest:).
My daughter wakes up around the same time, usually 6am. I will generally put her down for a nap around noon. We eat lunch around 11am and she has been up for 6 hours by that point. If he is not wanting to take a second nap later in the afternoon, I would slowly start pushing back his nap time by half hour increments until he is at the time you would like him to take a nap. Generally speaking if he is only taking one nap a day then you'll probably want it to be in the middle of the day otherwise he'll be too overtired by evening.
If your interested in reading about sleep and children I'd recommend the book below. It is extremely enlightening and made a world of difference for my kids.

Addison gets up around 7:30 or 8:00 and usually goes down around 12 or 12:30 depending on if we're home or if we've been out in the morning. Sometimes she goes down as late as 2.
That seems early to not need a second nap in the afternoon. What time does he go to bed at night?
When Ben first started doing one nap, he went down around noon if I recall... or maybe even 11. But then often he'd need a power nap at 4 or 5. So I tried to push him to make sure it wasnt' until noon. It kept moving later and later and now he naps from 2-4 or 5. He doesnt' get up til 8 or 8:30 in the morning though, and he goes to bed at 9 but isn't usually asleep til 10 or 10:30.

Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child????????? by Dr. Marc Weissbluth
?Hope that's helpful, Jamie
This. Weissbluth's book is the sleep Bible. Several parents recommended it to me before DD was born. She has always been hands down the best sleeper out of any other child we've met... with the exception of other ppl also who followed the book. Everything he said to do worked perfectly and made sense. In your DS's case, Weissbluth would say that 2 naps is more age appropriate, but he talks about how you should do it if he will flat out only take one.?
DD takes one nap after lunch, which is roughly around noon. This works well b/c it's what her daycare does, so she fits right into that time block and never has a problem napping there or at home. ?
Re: Kids who take just one nap - what time?
Payton goes down after lunch. Anywhere between 12:30 and 1:30ish for usually 2+ hours.

Joey's 22 months and since 18 months he's been taking one nap. He goes down between 1-2pm, depends on how tired he is. He'll sometimes sleep 3 hours.
So he's awake the entire afternoon? WOW! I'd go crazy! What time does he go to bed? I'd probably put him down in the afternoon still, he may need it.
