*This is some crazy crunchy talk so all of you snooping haters, butt out.*
I was thinking about your post yesterday and was reminded of the necklace that Joaquin wears. You'll see it in all of his pictures. Anyway, it's called an Amber Teething necklace. It's supposed to help with the pain and discomfort of teething. Some say it's because of it's energy. Others say it's because of the oil it secretes. Either way, I swear this thing works.
He's had it on since about 6 months old, the same one. At one point he was teething, but for whatever reason I had taken it off. That night he was screaming in fits of pain. Then I remembered I had taken it off and put it back on. He went right to sleep, didn't wake up in pain again. I swear teething has been a pretty non-issue around here. I mean there are days where he seems uncomfortable with teething or will have slight fever, but very rarely do we go through the up all night teething crying kind of thing.
I have no idea if the thing really works or if it's all in my head. But I have many friends that use these and swear by them. Some of the mamas even have bracelets to help with the tendonitis that comes after pregnancy.
Like I said, it's crazy talk, but might be worth a shot? They're pretty cheap and super cute, even if it doesn't work, he looks darn adorable in it. As for safety, each bead is individually tied on to prevent a million beads from falling all over the place in case of breakage. We haven't had an issue and J has been wearing his for about two years.
I know it's late in the game for your little one, but maybe you could pass it down to the next? Just google Amber Teething Necklace, I got mine here, through a co-op purchace, but the site looks kind of difficult to navigate. Ok, just thought I'd throw this out there to you because I know you were feeling super frustrated! Hope all is well
Re: Hula, re: teething crankiness
Ok, first, I cracked up at your disclaimer.
Now I need to ::facepalm:: I have a teething necklace for Rebecca. And she loves wearing it. Have I put it on her recently? No of course not. Dummy. I'm going to get it out tonight and have her start wearing it again.
I actually have a bracelet for myself that I bought, mostly because I thought it was pretty
Funny enough, after I vented like crazy yesterday, last night she was a complete angel. Again this morning, she was like the cliqued example of a perfect child. Talk about night and day.
I was laughing with her this morning, saying it's like she's got it figured out when Mommy is RIGHT at the breaking point, losing her mind over the tantrums when she decides that she's had enough and will go back to being herself again. Little turd
Oh they totally do that...it's like they know when they've crossed that line and it's time to turn back.
Right on that you already have one! I need to get one for my wrist, it's been killing me lately.

::Butting in but not in a mean way::
Isela, you crack me up! I am not "crunchy" per say but I am totally going to get one of those- I've never ever heard of anything like that. Even if there's a chance that it will work, I'm willing to try it. Teething is such a b!tch at our house. Thanks for the info!
::Butting out::?
You should give it a try.
I notice I'm not as achy when I actually remember to wear mine. We've noticed a pretty considerable difference in Rebecca's attitude and manner when she wears hers. I do get a bit nervous having her wear it at night, though. I'm afraid her hair will tangle in it or something
I plan to get one for LO when he/she is around teething age for the ankle. That way we can put him/her in footed jammies or something so there's no way for him/her to get it off or choke on it.
Yeah, I was kind of paranoid in the beginning and then laziness defeated that. Now he wears it all the time. If I take it off he gets pissed, it's so a part of him now!
I think the reason I took it off in my post above was because we went to the ped and I was afraid he'd yell at me or something. Like I was practicing voodoo on my kid. Since then I've taken him with it one and he hasn't said a word about it!

You know, one of my pedis that we see was actually really cool about it. I told him about it and he wrote down the web address where I got mine (Inspired by Finn or something like that on Hyena cart)
He also was fully behind us using the homeopathic teething tubes whereas one of the other doctors got all stupid about them not being "FDA approved because they're reviewed as a food"
Ok. So we give her cheerios, those are regulated as food. And they're safe. Yes? He didn't like my argument. Mostly because he didn't have a response. Ha!
That's where we got ours!
Tell me more about these teething tubes, I don't think I've heard of them!

Really?! They're wonderful. Our daycare introduced me to them. You can use them every 15 minutes!
Camilia is the brand, I bought them at our local crunchy store

I'll have to check those out next time! We still have the two year molars to go through...fun fun fun! We've also used Hylands Teething Tablets, but I haven't seen these yet. Off to see if my co-op offers them!
Thanks!!!
