I was thinking from the beginning that DH and I won't get it done as it's 200..We were told at our last ultrasound that we are having a boy...but we werent given a percentage of the techs guess...Im guessing most boys do turn out to be boys...and girls are more of the mixed up...Im wondering if it would be worth it to get done...or if I get another ultrasound later on in this pregnancy- third tri ultrasound>>??
Re: Who's getting 3D done of baby..why, why not
I will but only because I got a free coupon! LOL we have been told we need sonos every 3-4 weeks so I will have no shortage of seeing him
I did it the first time and it was OK.. he was never in a good spot to see him really good.. but it was a fun thing to do with BFF and MIL
I'm not.
1) We get another "big u/s" at 22 weeks since HJ wouldn't flip over to show us his heart.
2) It's pricey & we need the money for other things.
If your u/s tech said it with some degree of certainty than why are you worried? I would guess you would have another u/s in 3rd tri (I know I'm having at least one), but that's something to ask your doctor.
Personally, I think the 3D images are a little creepy and if the gender isn't a surprise, I at least want what he looks like to be.
I am for a few reasons:
1. We got a really good price on one- $100
2. I know it will mean a lot to my mom, she thinks they are so cool and this is her first grandchild.
3. It will also allow my MIL to see an u/s and it's her first grandchild as well so I know she'd really like to see one and I don't feel comfortable with her at doctor's appts with me.
We are for two reasons:
1) My husband is a huge nerd and thinks the technology is cool. ?Seriously. <rolls eyes>
2) My mother gave us the money for it as a Mother's Day gift. ?In return, we're planning to surprise her with copies of everything we get.
?
This! LOL! My mom disagreed and I said my mind could be changed if she wanted to pay for one, but alas she did not.
We get a third tri U/S anyway, so I'll have them look at his package one more time to make sure
we are not.
they are expensive ($250)
they are creepy, IMO
I have twins so i get monthly ultrasounds as is - and last time they did in
3D anyway.
If I didnt have twins though I would do it...the way I look at it is, you are only pregnant for a short period of time, if possible, you should enjoy every opportunity that is possible.
$200 sounds pricey, btw...I'd shop around because I know people who have gotten them for as low as $60.

We did, but only b/c Emma had the cord between her legs and had her legs crossed. We were dying to find out, so we got the 4D done. But now that we did, I think we will every time. I know it seems weird for people, including my husband, but once you're in there and see her face, it's so worth it!
We did have one done and it was worth it IMO...this is the first grandchild on both sides, and the technology is amazing...it's really something to see your baby move around (yawn, smile, turn)...we also have it all on DVD and CD's of all the pictures...if I get around to it, we will make a scrapbook for all those "firsts"
I am getting one done. Lucky for me I work in the medical field so i get a discount, 75 bucks for a CD and tons of pictures!! what a super deal! And this is my first baby so thats another big reason!
We are staying Team Green, but even if we wanted to know the sex, I would not get another ultrasound just to determine the sex or just to see the baby again.
Actually, while ultrasounds are safe, the FDA has issued a caution against having ultrasounds done just to determine the sex or just to see the baby. So we are just having the ultrasounds that the dr thinks are necessary (NT Scan, Anatomy Screen, & 28 week u/s to check on my low-lying placenta).
