D.C. Area Babies

what do you pay for in-home daycare?

Per day? I'm interested in maybe doing this to stay home with DD and am interested in what the going rate is for in-home care. I'm in Montgomery County.

so...

what do you pay per day?

how many hours is your day?

thanks!

Re: what do you pay for in-home daycare?

  • I pay $1350 per month, but go through a service (Monday Morning Moms of Montgomery County).  That's for a 3 month old infant.

We drop off at 8AM, pick up at 6PM, 5 days per week.

Most places are a bit cheaper, but the service tacks on a fee (I don't know how much the fee is.)

Where did you get your DD's pics taken?  They are cute!

  • We haven't started sending DS yet, but we are taking him to a place in Annandale.  She charges by the number of hours per week.  DS will be going for just 37.5 and we will pay $900/month.
  • Ours is open 7-6 and is $225/week full time.  We will only be taking her 3 days a week but paying per day was $70/day and didn't make sense.  We like the flexibility of being able to use it full time if we need me to work more for extra money.

  • $190 a week in Fairfax County.
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
  • You can do a search on www.mdchildcare.org for in-home or centers near you - it will list prices, what's included, hours, etc. We are paying $1000/month for a small center near our home; dropping off at 8 and picking up at 6 (or thereabouts) starting in January. A lot of the in-home places we looked charged about $200/week for infants.

  • Good question! I was wondering the same thing.
  • Ahh, to live in the suburbs. In DC, the going rate is about $1300 for unlicensed, $1600 for licensed. ?Yikes! We are going to end up paying around $1700 a month for a center. That is pretty "reasonable" around here.

You have to be licensed in MD to take children into your home more than 10 hours per week. If you get caught you can get in lots of trouble.

I pay $175/4 8 hours days for a 2 yo and $200 for the same amount of time for a 4.5m old.

  • We only did in-home for a month but it was $900 a month (in Rockville)

Trust me, the one we looked at in the burbs here was $1900/month.

  • $40/day or $200/week. DCP is licensed in Loudoun County VA.
  • $150/wk, full time (600-630) , licensed, western pw county.
