So I get home from work last night, feed the cats -everything is fine. Then I hear them hissing & fighting - go to break it up (I have 3 cats total) there is blood & hair all over the living room.
We get them apart, in 3 different closed rooms, check them all out & can't find any place the blood is coming from. Leave them locked up all night. This morning they saw each other again & they are fighting just like last night!
We locked them up, I came to work - I don't know what I'm going to do though. They always got along, for years - now they can't stand eachother, WTF. I was googling things last night but couldn't find anything helpful.
I think my day is going to suck.

Re: Cat Problems (vent)
Are the male and are the fixed? I would def call and ask the Dr. That will make for a very stressful enviroment for you, DH, and the cats if they can't be free to roam.
GL Let us know what happens!
That's a good idea! I'm going to try that today....
2 females & a male. everyone is fixed. It was just the oddest thing. They "fight" alot, but this was scary. They were making weird noises & hissing like crazy.
Poor babies! Do you know if one cat in particular is instigating the fighting? Definitely give the vet a call.
My cats fight every so often and if I don't trim their claws on a regular basis like I'm supposed to, sometimes they draw a little blood. But after I separate them for awhile, they are fine.
Hopefully they stop. Keep us posted.
Despite the fact that they are spayed and neutered this time of year can cause them alot of stress because it would ordinarily be mating season. You may see an increase in agressive bahavior. My suggestion would be to slowly reintroduce them. It should die down in a bit. I would call your vet too he should be able to give you more info, but also there's an additive you can put in their water called "good cat" that might mellow things out while they are getting to know eachother again.
Thanks for the info, I'm going to the pet store at lunch today to get calming spary (i read about it online helping, maybe) and I will get this too - I'm going to try everything...
It's just so crazy - I've had cats my whole life NEVER have I had fighting like this.... it was scary.
Yep, now that you mention it - I can't remember the last time my husband clipped nails - he will be doing that tonight!
You know, it's funny you mention this because my cats have been fighting like, well, two cats on a fence. Yesterday morning I had to chase them down and break them up, which I never have to do. Mooeta is probably right about the time of year.
My cats also do other weird things this time of year, like sleep in the most random places. Usually somewhere up high...like on top of bookshelves, or on the kitchen table.
LoL, what is weird is that when I was googling last night to find ANYTHING helpful I kept getting "cat fight" videos of cats on fences (and roofs, etc) fighting. That's exactly how I felt my cats were being. It's just upsetting to see them like that.
I just wanted to say that I appreciate that you both of you gals go the "hard" route and trim the nails. To each there own, but I am anti-declawing.
I never thought about that until now. Though, there is this stray black cat that roams our neighborhood - I don't know if they saw him & that's how this started or what. They normally don't care about him at all. But it's possible - the fight did start right by the open front door of the house!
My one cat sprayed this morning when she was growling at one of the other cats, so it's completely about territory. I hate cleaning up cat pee though.
Thanks
it was a hard choice at first - I've had plently of cats at pets growing up, but my parents did the de-clawing thing. But I really read up about it and thought I would try it "the hard way" for the cats sake.
Yeah, it was mainly my ex (who I got the cats with) who convinced me to not go through with declawing. My parents also did the declawing thing.
Completely! It was a hard transition for ME - but now I'm use to it, though I do suck & get lazy about the clipping.
