XP: Location of "Mother's Rooms"

What stores generally have decent rooms for nursing mothers? I'm going to the mall with a friend tomorrow who isn't comfortable with NIP yet, and I wanted to have a plan about where we can go when she needs to nurse. I tried looking it up on our mall's website but couldn't find any info. Thanks for any insight you can give me!

I use dressing rooms! The attendant is always super nice, and typically offers the biggest one for me to use, with the stroller and all that.?

    HTH?

  • Nordstrom is the best.  The Lord and Taylors around here have them, but they're not as nice.

  • I know the mall by me has a little sitting area in the women's room but not totally private--she'll need a good coverup.  how about a babies r us nearby???  She can always swing in there.  I've done that before.  Or how about the backseat of the car???  I do that from time to time as well (with a coverup).  I would NIP if I was better at it--hhahah.

  • Any motherhood maternity or mimi maternity store will allow it in their dressing room. Also Lord & taylor & nordstroms. Macy's also has one.?
  • The family bathroom at my mall is very nice! It has a lounge area and a few rooms w/ nice seats in them and curtains that close so you can nurse and even put your feet up. It has built in changing tables to the counter & provides warm wipes and even a microwave along w/ two private stall bathrooms that also have a sink & changing table (wall mounted) in each. Also, the bigger stores like nordstroms have nice womens lounges in their restrooms.

  • I'm not sure what stores you have in your area, but around here, one of our newest malls has a mother's room near all the restrooms that is pretty nice. Von Maur also has a mother's room.

If I need to nurse while at the mall, I usually head to one of the nicer department stores - even if they don't have an official 'mother's room', they usually have pretty nice and spacious dressing rooms and I use those.

  • I used to use dressing rooms or sit in the car between errands.  Just pick a store you know will have a really nice dressing room and go there.  Have fun!!

  • Thanks for the info- we have Macy's, Lord and Taylor, Nordstroms, etc, so I think we'll be in good shape! I guess I never really put too much though into it before- I nursed in line at the polls in November, so obviously I'm not too worried about where and when!!
  • Since you have a Nordstrom, go there.  Its the nicest by far.

Sounds like a plan :-). I'm off for some beauty sleep... have a great night everyone!

  • Nordstrom has the best nursing room. When I go to the mall with my playgroup friends we sometimes wind up in the Nordstroms lounge for an hour, feeding, changing, and letting out LOs play on the (carpeted) floor. It's sooo cozy.
