Hey! I know that there was already an official check in but I am feeling bored and was curious about u/s...
It seems like a lot of ladies on here have doctors willing to give them lot's of u/s... I believe I will only be getting one at 20 weeks and no more unless something is up.
QOTD: How many u/s are you expecting? Is it the mother's choice of the caretakers?

Was this question triggered by my post below?
I'm only getting one at 20 weeks....I highly doubt I'll be getting any after that. Talk about anticipation!

I have had a previous miscarriage and my OB said she will do an "early" U/S this time but I'm not sure when exactly.
I'll probably get the early one, one at the NT scan, and the 20 weeker... beyond that I don't know what the protocol is.
ETA: For my first pregnancy it would have been the 20 wk one only unless I did the NT scan... didn't get that far.
i thought i would be getting one next week at my next appointment(i know they said i would get blood testing and get to hear the heartbeat), but after talking to 2 people i work with who go to the same practice and just had kids, they were surprised i was getting one so early. they said they didn't get their first until 12 to 14 weeks . . . so i guess my answer is i'm not really sure.
My mw recommends 1 at 18-22 weeks. If there is spotting or other reason for concern (growth restriction, macrosoma, etc), she'll refer you for another.
I'm having 1 next week because of my previous history (have to verify intrauterine, though we are pretty certain it is) and h/b.
She can refer for the NT scan as well, but doesn't advocate for or against it.
If all goes well, I plan on 2 - 3 (depending on whether or not we opt for the NT scan).

I am getting one tomorrow at only 6 weeks, but that is because I have been having some spotting. Not a typical u/s.
I was supposed to have my first at 8 weeks, then one with the NT test around 12 weeks, and then one at 20 weeks.

With DD, I had one during my first appt at 5 weeks to confirm the pregnancy and EDD since I have an irregular cycle (but they do ultrasounds for all first visits). Since it ended up to be so early, there was no fetal pole, and so I had another ultrasound 2 weeks later (7 weeks) and got to see the heart beat. Around 8 weeks, I had spotting, and went in the next morning and had another ultrasound to make sure everything was okay, it was. I didn't have another ultrasound until I was 18 weeks (the BIG ultrasound).
This is rare and hopefully you don't need to go through this: around 32 weeks, I developed PreE and so had an ultrasound done then to measure the baby to see how big she was and also did a biophys to make sure everything was okay. From 32-36 weeks, I had an ultrasound 2-3 times a week. I delivered at 36 weeks.
With this pregnancy, I'm having my first ultrasound done THIS Thursday. I'll be 6.5 weeks and hope to see a heartbeat. My OB (new one) has her own high-end ultrasound and so she will also being doing my big ultrasound at 18 weeks too. Hopefully, my pregnancy this time around is good and I don't need more than that.
I have my first u/s scheduled for 5/22, I will be 8 weeks. This is also my first appointment so I am not sure how many I will get.
I wish I knew this answer. I dont even know what to expect out of my first appointment on June 9th. All I know is they said it takes about 45 minutes.
I hope they do one then!
I've lost 5 babies in the past so whatever the Dr tells me he's doing I'm making the appt :-)
This time around I'm expecting a few but not as many as I had w/ DS (we were seeing an RE specialist so the u/s were weekly... I was spoiled then)

I anticipate at least three - a dating one, since I conceived after a chemical pregnancy and don't have a LMP to use for a due date; the big one around 20 weeks; one later in pregnancy to gauge the baby's size, since I want to have a VBAC.
My last PG I had the dating u/s and my big u/s. I wouldn't have had anymore, except my big one showed that I had placenta previa, so they had to make sure it resolved itself (it did.) I think it just depends on the medical situation of the mother at my OB's practice.
Mine are dictated by my OB not by my choice. Well, and I guess by insurance as well.
