Our official Maternity Session isn't until August, but we are doing a mini-session in 2 weeks to get a couple pictures to choose from for my shower invites.?
We will be taking the photos downtown in the Warehouse District (yay!).. and I am at a total loss as to what we should wear.
For our engagement pics (at Star Hill Ranch), we had a few outfits: nice black shirts/jeans, me in a black dress with DH in a white shirt/jeans, DH in a pearl-snap shirt/jeans and me in a navy blue shirt/jeans. For our family photos last summer we did the matchy-matchy everyone in white tops and jeans. For these photos though, I'd like the tone to be a little more fun/funky.
I have zero experience with Warehouse District photos... so does anyone have any suggestions on colors/styles that would look great for a stroll around downtown? Keep in mind, my belly needs to be accentuated as much as possible since it isn't as big as it will be for the real session...
Thanks ladies! ?
Re: Wardrobe Suggestions for Mat Pics, please. :)
I'd go straight for the string bikini.
Seriously, no idea what would be good, but have fun! What a neat thing to have for your invites!
Maybe a nice bright red top for you? I think your DH would still be fine in a white shirt of some sort. Is he usually more of a dress up kind of guy or no? I've seen some great shots in red down there, it really stands out against the buildings. Maybe that and jeans. You could have fun red shoes too
Ooo or yellow. Sorry, I like bright colors because I think everyone looks good in them, but I don't.
I like the look of bright colors in photos, too.
I read a blog recently about a family photo shoot where they all dressed in an array of 4 or 5 bold colors, and I think they look great--like a magazine family!

Ditto the suggestions on bold colors- whether it be on your clothes or as your accessories, i.e. shoes, necklace, a shawl, etc.
I would also check with your photographer- see if he/she has any suggestions on what color not to wear for example. I think greens are really in right now and coral or a pale pink. You could do some shots in a nice summery print dress with your hubby in solid colors, and then change out into something more casual for other shots like capris or jeans with a vibrant top and chunky jewelry {if you like big jewelry}.
Good luck and have fun!!!
Ditto the bright colors, though I wouldn't put A in white. I don't think white looks all that great in photos, personally. I'd sooner put him in black or navy or a deep/bright color. For our Anniv. pics, K wore a "bluebonnet blue" shirt that looked great, and I wore a bright purple. It came out great with the two brights, and someone even commented on Lisa's blog post about our session that "THAT'S the way to dress for photos!" Although K is way more metrosexual than A is, so he was totally diggin' the bright colored shirt on himself...something tells me A might not be as into it...
Ohhh ohhh let's go shopping this weekend!! We need to take K on her first preggo shopping experience anyway.
I agree I think bright colors would look great. You are more then welcome to a dress I bought at Motherhood ( I never plan on being PG again) and only wore once. It is bright purple crepe material and has a empire waist band so it really accentuates the bump.
(sorry for the crumy quality of the pic, the lightening was horrible)
