My first Mother's Day was great! Brian did the nighttime feeding and let me sleep in. Since I knew he was letting me sleep in, I took some Tylenol PM for my back. It has been killing me, but I never want to take anything like Tylenol PM b/c I know it knocks me out.

I slept until 10:15! It was wonderful!

We also ate at The Dish that day. They had a great Mother's Day brunch. yum!

  • Hi Ladies!

My first Mother's Day was sort of uneventful.  I got to sleep in after I fed DS.  I got a Bebe Au' Lait hooter hider, a sweater, and I ordered my Mei Tai carrier from cuddlingbaby.com.  My DH didn't really plan anything which kind of bummed me out.  It was more of "just get what you want happy mother's day".  No real effort so that stunk. HOWEVER, I keep telling myself I can't complain too much since he got me diamond earrings the day DS was born.  So that was an early Mother's Day surprise.

I have NO clue how to put in a picture or I'd put in a few of Jack on easter.  I'll look into it and get back to you guys. Big Smile

  • My Mother's Day was not what I expected.  DH is sick with his fourth MRSA infection and had to have another absess drained on Sat.  So he was in no shape to celebrate on Sunday.  I went to church and then had brunch with my mom and sister at Brio.  They have a great brunch set up for the day!  Then I went home to spend time with my little man (I couldn't take him to lunch because my sis and her hubby have been sick).

On Sat. DH told me I could go pick something out so I went and got a new curtain and bedspread for our bedroom.  DH was not able to get out to get me anything.  I know it's not his fault that this keeps happening but it still bummed me out a little.

Oh, and I got a brand new Whirlpool Duet washer/dryer set so that was my early Mother's Day gift.  Can't really complain.  I *heart* them!

What an awesome present!  Pat on the back for TrumpetBride's DH!  My DH and I joked that he should have gotten me a t-shirt that said, "I pushed for 2.5 hours with a worn out epidural and all I got was this stinky baby."

  • Molly: I gave my DH two pregnancy books for dads for our one year wedding anniversary (paper anniversary) and he read them cover to cover.  When he gave me my earrings he said the one thing that stuck with him from the books was: The day your wife gives birth it'll be all about the baby.  Do something to show your wife that you appreciate the miracle she just performed.  Yes  I thought that was great!
  • I had my first official Mother's Day...with a sick infant.  I did however, get to stay in bed all day and rest with a baby on my chest.  I also got some money to get myself to Old Navy as soon as my body returns back to it's old self...when I finally get to work out!  I also got Rascal Flatts new CD...I got screwed out of going to the concert in January and DH felt bad, so he hooked me up!
  • Sorry Molly, I forgot that I should probably add in the fact that we did have our baby on April 20 by induction.  Bauer Kent was born at 4:50 pm, weighed 8lbs 11oz and was 21 1/4 inches long.  He is so fun and hopefully is going to be a good night sleeper soon!
  • Well my first Mother's Day was pretty nice. My DH had gotten me a mother's ring and gave it to me the day Bree was born for a "push present" and for mothers day. Totally unexpected, but I think after having me be in labor for 27 hrs and pushing for 2.5 hrs he really thought I deserved it. Also the day I went back to work my DH sent me flowers as part of a mothers day present. So really nothing that day but I appreciated everything before the Sunday.
  • Mother's Day... well, not much to say about that one. Both the girls woke up at 6:30 and usually DH will get up with them on the weekends so I can sleep a little bit since he gets extra sleep during the week after we leave for school. That didn't happen. DH got up with Claire and was feeding her since she woke first and about 5 minutes later Lillian woke up so DH came in to wake me so I could feed her. I really could have used the extra sleep since I was up with them all morning on Saturday as well as all day since DH was working. I did enjoy my cuddle time and I was able to get a 30 minute nap. We went to chuch and had some friends over for a late breakfast after. As soon as they left DH had to finish getting ready for work and then was gone all day.?

I was really hoping I would be able to have a nice relaxing day, maybe get some sleep, and feel appreciated for everything I do each and every day. None of that happened. As a gift I received a card he ran out and bought the night before after work, a movie (it isnt a bad one, but isnt really something I would buy) and a giant bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I know he tried to get me things he thought I would enjoy, but I already feel so uncomfortable in my new body and a giant bag of chocolate taunting me is not going to help. I was an emotional wreck and even started crying during church. Sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into a vent, but I was just hoping for a great first Mother's Day and it was far from it. The only good thing about it was all the smiles and hugs I received from my girls.?

  • Hi.  It is way past May 11th at this point but I would love to join this!  Here is some info to add me to the list.

My name is Stephanie.  My son Elliot was born Feb. 20th 09 via c-section (don't know if that matters).  He is my first and I could not be a more proud mom if I tried.

Now, about my Mothers Day.  The morning was good.  We had brunch with my parents.  The afternoon kind of was a let down.  All I wanted was a nap but Elliot was way cranky because he was having constipation issues so the nap ended up being breif and broken up.  Then dh had to go into work for inventory for the evening so that left the evening quite uneventful.

  • My parents have been staying with us all week so I haven't been online much...but thought I'd still check in late.

Our Mother's Day was low-key, but nice. My parents and my college roommate (DS's godmother) & her family were in town for Ben's baptism on Saturday, and for Mother's Day we met the ILs & a few other of DH's family members for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Had a quiet afternoon and then left DS with my parents and introduced my friend & her husband to KC bbq for dinner. At night DS & my friend's dtr were in good moods and we had fun playing with them.  My parents got me a lovely pearl necklace for a gift. DH hasn't gotten my gift yet, but he was so busy taking care of me and DS the weekend & week before Mother's Day because I was sick again (stupid daycare germs!) so I didn't mind.
