7+monthers -- how do you bathe?

We've been using the ducky tub for the past months (which she LOVES) but we can no longer get her to sit in it. She tries to stand up and hold on to the edge of the tub. It's getting to the point that it really isn't safe and I think we need to try something different.

Does anyone bathe their baby in the regular tub? I'm thinking maybe of just filling it with a couple inches of water and letting her crawl around in there with her toys? Any other suggestions?

  • We have the same ducky tub and he also likes to stand in it. ?I try a few very firm "nos" to get him to remain sitting, which doesn't work for long, but will usually buy me a minute or so.

I give him a few toys to play with and just go as fast as I can. ?Curious to read how others do this as we are going to Atlanta this week and staying with MIL and she doesn't have any baby tub.

  • I put Avery in the regular bath tub with a mat underneath her.  She's not a mover or a crawler though...and screams through bathtime so I'm really no help.

Avery thinks a firm "no" is the most hilarious thing she has ever heard. :(?

We still use her mini bathtub but when we were on vacation we used the regular tub and she was fine.  I just like that her little tub uses less water.  It still has room for her to move around.

  • im no help either - andrew loves to sit in the duck tub and play with his toys. sorry!
  • We bathe Sophia in the regular tub with a couple inches of water and her toys.  She LOVES it.  So far, she hasn't tried to stand up.
  • I put Indy in the back of the shower on a mat and he will sit in there and play while I shower.  When its his turn I sit down and stand him up to wash him.
  • We don't have the ducky tub, but it's a baby tub very similar in size.  Maya hasn't tried to stand up in it yet, but she is always trying to grab whatever she can around the tub.  She is very active in there.

I say you start using the regular tub, without much water.  My SIL used to just bathe with her DD once she started in the regular tub.  I'm sure she'll do great!

  • We use the regular bath with a mat.  He crawls around and tries to grab the faucet, bottles, etc. sometimes but we just try to entertain him with his toys.  Usually my dh plays with him while I scrub him.  He is getting better at sitting or laying down when we need him to.  He also is getting better at stopping something when we say no.
  • We've been bathing her in the regular tub for two months now. She just sits and splashes, no crawling around yet. Give it a try and hopefully it works out better in the tub.
