Suggestions for outings??

I am a nanny for a 4yr old and almost 1yr old. I'm getting tired of the same old places, and would love new suggestions. It's also getting hard on me (and will get worse in the coming weeks I'm sure!) the more pregnant I become, so places like the zoo are just too much of a hassle.

We frequent the Aquarium, Library, Otterville, Joseph Beth, Children's Museum... and parks of course on nice days.

Any other great hidden places? We are in Anderson. I want to keep the kids entertained without killing myself.

TIA!

  • Entertrainment Junction in West Chester would be good for the older child. The younger child might like the noises and sights too.

I don't know if the 4 year old would be too old, but have you tried Jumpin Joey's in Milford?  There is also Jump Zone in Milford, but I'm not sure what is there for the 1 year old.  I thought I heard there was a toddler area, but we've never been.  My DS loves Jumpin Joey's though!

Is it a play area you can go to any day? Or classes you need to sign up for?

  • Recreation Outlet is fun and they have free play on M,W, F mornings, I think.  It's located on Wooster Pike.

We've also gone to story time and sing-alongs at Pottery Barn Kids in Kenwood.

East Gate Mall has a new story time on Thursday mornings at the photography place there.  The mall also has a play area.

We go to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and play sometimes, too.

Sycamore Park and the Batavia Branch library are starting a new story/nature time at Sycamore Park one Wednesday every month at 1:30pm.   They're actually having it this Wednesday.

This may be a little chaotic, but going downtown can be fun - like around fountain square or sawyer point.  Carew Tower could be neat for them and I think it's free for kids under 5 and it's only like $2 for general admission.

Since you're in Anderson, you've probably frequented all of these parks, but I'll just suggest the parks around there that we like:  Juilfs, Woodland Mound, Helicopter Park, Veterans, Beech Acres, Lunken,  Sycamore.

Cincinnati Nature Center is a great place for kids, as well.  They are free on Mondays.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

What about something out at East Fork Lake?  Coney Island/Starlight Pool in a few weeks?  Coco Key water park?  Children's Museum?

Jumpin Joey's offers classes but they also have open play time.  The open play hours are on their website, but I think most of the day on Tuesdays are open play.  It's a couple bucks to play or free if you are enrolled in a class.  We bought a pass that's for 5 days of open play for $25.
