TTC after 35

follie check update

grrrr! the leader is only 13.7! you read that right, only .7 more from saturday!

taking more follistim tonight and tomorrow and going back to RE on wed.

i questioned the nurse about "old" eggs.

on an UNmedicated cycle i typically ovulate around cd19/20/21ish. She seemed to be mad at me for comparing this cycle to a natural cycle. I was just curious b/c i'm only a few days from when i'd typically ovulate (for FREE!).

i haven't done much research about how late ovulation affects the quality of the egg but during initial discussions w/ my RE I was under the impression that it was BAD. the nurse told me i was being closely monitored and all is fine.?

i'm just worried that a late ovulation is going to lead to yet another miscarriage.?

anyone ever done research on late ovulation? does it not matter as long as you have a 12-14 day luteal phase? ?

  • I hope your follies continue to grow and get ready - best of luck to you! And don't worry about what the grumpy nurse (or google!) has to say - your doctor knows you and your situation far better.

  • I have not done any research on late ovulation as I have the opposite problem myself. I lurk on GP quite a bit, and there are a ton of women there with really long cycles and BFPs so I don't think it could be too much of a problem.  Good luck!

  • I'm a late ovulator (CD 19-22) and I was able to conceive with no problems so far (knock on wood). It did take me almost a year so maybe ovulating late is not ideal, but as long as you get pregnant, who cares. Good luck with your procedure!
Me: 44 DH: 42. DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09. TTC since then with no luck or ART. Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.
  • I don't think late ovulation is bad. I had aslwys heard that o'ing too early was bad because the egg isn't as mature. Who knows? The cycle I got my BFP, I O'd 3 days later than usual- CD16 instead of CD13. So I say O'ing later is better. Good luck!

  • thanks for the good wishes and personal experiences.

i gotta go take 112 units of follistim then wake up at o'dark-thirty to go for monitoring!

i've gotten pregnant twice ovulating late, but my luteal phase was the issue. guess as long as the luteal phase is decent then ovulating at any time is fine!

    ?

    thanks again ladies!?

  • I don't have any advice either, but I wanted to say good luck...so Good Luck!

  • I usually ovulate a little later (CD 17/18), but I'm not worried since my LP is 10-12 days.  I haven't read anything bad about ovulating late.  So, don't worry too much about that.

I wish you lots of luck - hopefully this is it and you will get a nice sticky BFP!
