2nd Trimester

Stop asking me .....**vent**

I really really really wish people would stop asking me where my " bump" is. I visited with family this week and each one of them had something to say about how flat-ish my tummy still is, as if i'm not already concious that I dont have a bump yet.

Then I get back to work today after a week off and everyone acts like i was supposed to come back with a huge belly??? The worst part is they all tell stories about how "they" were showing at 14/15 weeks.....well congrats....Im not....lol.

OK vent over....thanks for listening.

Re: Stop asking me .....**vent**

  • Ask them if they realize how small the baby actually is at that point.

  • HA i have the opposite reaction... enjoy it while it lasts Stick out tongue
  • yes, I still clench my teeth a bit when someone gives my non showing belly the one over with ginormous eyes and mouth wide. I don't know what people expect me to do. I told DH I may just start wearing a pillow around under my shirt until I have a legit belly...

*is that a chocolate lab you have? how old is he/she? mine just turned 7 months...*

  • haha i was just going to post on urs saying the same thing....trade ya for one day !! Make my family be quiet LOL  ;)
  • I know how you feel. I will be 16 weeks on Thursday and im still not showing. Everyone keeps asking, are you sure your pregnant? Im like, REALLY? Are you serious!!! People can be rude! This is my first baby and he or she only weighs a few ounces right now and they expect me to have this HUGE belly already!!!
  • Well, I do have a bump (though small) and 2 people told me that I wasn't showing at all last week. ?I know I've got some extra fluff, but my belly was not that big before, people! ? I don't think the comments will ever stop, by the way.
***************************** Our beautiful daughter was born in October 2009. Turns out she was quite the miracle. After two years of TTC, diagnosed with DOR. A couple of failed treatment cycles later, we decided to let go of our hope for more biological children and explore adoption.

HAHA thats a great idea! maybe ill start layering just around the middle ;)

Ya shes about 1y 4mo choc lab , Mika, its the best dog I've ever owned...sweet..and hilarious. Hows urs so far ???

  • I hear ya. Im 15 weeks and baby is supposed to be the size of an orange and my dh is like where the heck are you hiding it? Im not really complaining because Im sure Ill be huge soon enough. But I biggest pet peeve is when people ask "are you sure there is something in there?!" - it just makes me freak and think there is something wrong. Its like playing on every pg lady's fear that there is something wrong with the baby.
  • I am almost 20 weeks and still have no bump to speak of.  I am not going to worry about it. The doctor says everything is great and at least maybe this way I won't get as many stretch marks?
  • I adore my puppy but she is sooooo honry (sp?) still! If she doesn't get enough exercise we can pretty much count on her being a little nightmarish for the day! Sometimes I think we're crazy for having a puppy and baby around the same time, but I am so obsessed with her! She's got me wrapped around her little finger (even if I do feel like locking her (or myself!) out of the house sometimes Tongue Tied )

Yours is adorable! Good luck with the pillow baby!

Carry around a lime (or whatever "how big is baby" fruit matches your week) and say, "yes. I don't know how I fit a fetus this size in me without you being able to tell."

OMG you made my day. Were you going for ornery or horny?

  • HAHA I was wondering the same thing.....whatever it gave me a giggle !!
  • Tell them they probably weren't showing at 14/15 weeks and were probably just bloated.

It's still pretty early for your bump to be visible yet, so don't worry, it will come.

I popped at 16 weeks, though some here didn't pop until 20+ weeks.  If you're not "bloated bumpy" then you might take a little longer to get a "baby bump"  and that's okay.

  • Mine just showed up a couple of weeks ago. My sweet MIL now refers to my bump as my "pooch." I am considering referring to hers as such, too. Except she doesn't have the whole pregnancy excuse...

I didn't show with my DS until 26 weeks and already have to wear stretchy pants with this one.  Hang in there!  Feel beautiful no matter how big/small your bump is!
  • I am barely showing, and I'm pregnant with twins! Everyone is different.
  • Just tell them that everyone's body is different and that "they" can F off.. ha ha ha ..
