Clomid and Irregular cycles?

I've never had a 'normal' cycle.  I could go 2,3,4 even 5 months with no period.  My doctor prescribed me clomid and I just finished my last pill last night.  I'm just curious if any of you have had completely irregular cycles and had early success with clomid?  I do have a son (who was a surprise, so this is our first time TTC), so the MD said that since we know I can get pregnant that it should happen fairly quickly.  I'm just curious if that is an accurate assumption...

are you charting along with Clomid to see if you are o'ing on it?

is your doc having you come in for an ultrasound & bloodwork a few days after your last pill.   That will tell you all the info you need to know such as how you are responding (or not responding) to it, how your lining is, etc...

at the u/s, they should be able to tell you if you are about to O soon or not.

Please don't go on a fertility drug without the proper monitoring.

I took it because my cycles were averaging 90-120 days with no ovulation, I got pregnant on my first cycle with Clomid.  Though the success of Clomid isnt if you get pregnant, it is if you ovulate, so if you O but dont get pregnant the Clomid was still successful.  GL!

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

I guess your response has me a bit taken aback. You seem to presume that I know nothing about clomid or how it should be prescribed and monitored.  My question was not around whether your doctor did u/s's and how you monitored your cycle, but rather did anyone with similiar cycles have early success with clomid --- early success meaning you confirmed ovulation or you got pregnant within a few months. I was simply looking for anecdotal evidence to confirm my research and an assumption made by my doctor...

You may want to try the TTTC board or lurk some more as you can find posts about clomid etc by lurking for information...her response was meant to be helpful she always has helpful information!

I don't think anyone is assuming you know nothing about Clomid.  With the number of posters that we see who are put on the drug without the proper monitoring, and no idea that they even need to be monitored, Staycee's post is pretty much the first line of questions we ask ALL people who have just started Clomid to make sure we're all on the same page.  Don't take it personally, because it's really not.

That being said, any doctor who assumes Clomid will get you pregnant quickly gets a side-eye from me.  Assuming it will help you ovulate?  Yes.  Assuming you will quickly get pregnant?  No.  You very well could get pg immediately on it, which I hope is the case, but I don't know if I would ASSUME that to be the case.

    Good luck!

yikes.  I go do a bit of work and...wow.  Yes, just trying to be helpful.   Probably 80+% of clomid question posters we see here have no clue about monitoring.
