Dan Marino's v. Don Shula?

Have you ever been to either? How are the prices and the food? Which do you prefer best? DH birthday is next weekend and I wanted to take him out to dinner, I thought about these 2 since he's a big Miami Dolphin fan. If not either of these where do you recommend for a nice night out with the hubs?

  • I've been to Dan Marino's and it's nice.  Nothing overly fancy. I've always had a good dining experience when I went there.  I've heard Shula's is a nicer restaurant overall but I can't speak from experience.

  • I've been to Shula's its VERY nice but its PRICEY!!!!
  • Two completely different caliber of restaurants.  Dan Marino's is a casual place, and nice menu... think PFChang prices.  Shula's Steakhouse (not sure if same you are speaking of) is a lot fancier... think Ruth Chris.  Both are good, but IMO, nothing to rave home about.

In case you didn't know, Miami Spice is going on now.  If you find a place you are interested in, make sure to check the menu... a few places i want to go basically only offer seafood which DH doesn't eat.  =(

    Good luck!

  • I've never been to Shula's, but I love Marino's. From what I hear though, they are totally different as far as prices and atmosphere (Shula's is fancier). But Marino's sesame seared tuna is AMAZING!! YUM!! --- great, now I'm hungry! LOL
  • I've eaten at Marino's once and I loved it! The food was really good. Ditto everyone about the casual atmosphere. Never been to Shula's but I've heard decent things about it.

Miami Spice is an "event" in which a bunch restaurants from around town participate to help market their rest.  They offer a set menu (several items to choose from) for $23 lunch and $36 dinner.  Most of the rest. are on the upperscale, so the prices are great.  Every yr, it is held Aug - Sept... however, they are hosting a Spring version in May.  Here's a list of rest, and their menus.

  • How great is that! Thank you for recommending the site!

I think I must toss a coin in order to decide where to eat!
