2nd Trimester

What do you suggest (maybe TMI)

I need to poop! I feel like I need to poop, I poop a little bit when I go to the bathroom but I want to clean it all out! I've never had this problem before so I don't know what to take. I don't have anything going on after I get home from work so I am hoping for suggestions that I can get on my way home from work and get this taken care of. What do you ladies take when you need to go and the normal fiber in you daily diet isn't helping? TIA.

Re: What do you suggest (maybe TMI)

  • Eat a bacon, egg & cheese biscuit from McDonalds (possibly two) - makes me poop every time.
  • Loading the player...
  • bran cereal and fiber bars!
  • Peanuts.  By the handful.  Unless you're allergic.

  • Applejuice, lots of it!
  • Just PLEASE don't stick your thumb up your vagina. PLEASE.
  • Black coffee (or tea...hot liquids get things moving)

Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper (the red food coloring usually gives me diarrhea...TMI, I know)

Prunes (I eat them at night and have a bowel movement later that evening or by the next morning)

I add Benefiber to lots of things-not real chalky and doesn't change the flavor. Good luck with the poop!

  • I couldn't go for SIX days a couple months ago.  I tried everything...colace, prune juice, etc.  I finally took Milk of Magnesia (the max dose) for two nights and that did the trick.  I hope you get some relief soon!

  • A whole jar of Clausen dill pickles.  You might want to eat them while sitting on the pot or at least eat then run!

  • I am not sure why, but tons of watermelon always does the trick for me.

Have you tried Activia yogurt? Or any yogurt?  The active bacteria in yogurt helps keep people regular.

Milk of Magnesia works wonders for me!

I drink it at about 8pm and then when you awake in the am you go poop.

I tend to have some additional loose stools.

I will take those over being constipated any day!!

  • benefiber 3 times a day and coffee!

Thanks for all of the suggestions ladies. I tried to have some apple juice with my lunch but the cafeteria was out. I will stop for some after work along with some of the other suggestions. I still don't understand the thumb up the vagina comment though?

This is bringing back bad memories of when I stuck MY fingers in someone else's vagina to help with such evacuation needs....

    shudders

Lets just say I am a REALLY good L&D nurse.....

PSA: Work on emptying your bowels before then!

I don't know what you get paid at your job but after reading that I KNOW it is not enough! I broke my back 10 years ago and one of the nurses had to wipe for me while I was in the hospital...she was one of those mean, crabby nurses so I didn't feel too bad but I really hated to have someone have to do that for me!

  • Hehe.  McDonalds worked for me too.

    Stool softeners did not work

    coffee did not work.

go with the nastiest food ever

  • Tons and tons of fruits and vegetables, lots of water, hot coffee (any hot beverage for that matter), and call your OB and have her suggest some sort of approved laxative to get things moving.
  • Prunes (2-3 a day) are great during pregnancy...?
