Success after IF

Babies and eye contact

I'm curious what you ladies are experiencing with your babies. Finley has amazing eye contact. She has been so aware and attentive and able to focus easily since I can remember. I look at her and I seriously think she understands what I am saying, she's so calm and "connected".  Griffin, on the other hand, is very bouncy and gassy. He never stops moving and only focuses on me when he is lying down and I put my face directly over his face....like on the floor or on the changing table. I'll hold him in front of my face when I am sitting and he will look one way or the other. When I try to look into his eyes, he turns or looks to the side. Is this normal?  And b/c I have twins, I am constantly analyzing their differences and thinking something is wrong with one or the other. With this though, I am slightly more concerned. Griffin does "talk" alot and he smiles all the time, directly at me when he's in the swing or pnp or on the changing table. How did your child focus on looking at you when they were around 3 months?

Re: Babies and eye contact

  • My DS sounds like yours and as he has gotten older it is evident that he is just curious.  He wants to see everything!  It is really hard to keep him still because he wants to be moving and I am a little scared about what will happen once he is really mobile!

  • I am convinced that this is a boy thing, boys on average tend to be much more active.  DS is the same way and it is very difficult to get him to make eye contact, he can do it he would just prefer to be into everything instead of sitting still.

  • I think it's a boy thing.  I hope nicolita is reading this.

My son looks at me, but also looks at the fan and everything else.  He can now see further at over 3 months.  He loves to be constantly looking everywhere.

  • Awesome! Thanks for the responses ladies. I was thinking this may just be a "boy" thing but since he's my first boy and SOOO different than the girls, I was a tad concerned. Now I'm nervous for him when he's mobile..ha..ha. Lookout world! ; ))

Huh?  I'd say DD is more like this, though she will have periods where she'll just stare at me too.

jsusann-- they're so cute and sounds like they are getting fun and interactive too!!
