So after a trip to the emergency room on Friday, I had my first ultrasound. According to what I know my dates to be, I was 6 weeks, 2 days. They did the ultrasound and saw the sac but said that it was "too early" to see the baby because I was only 5 weeks. I don't understand how it is possible that I could be 5 weeks, because I took a HPT before I missed my period. So if I was a week earlier than I thought, I wouldn't have gotten a positive HPT, right?
Anyways, my concern is basically that they only saw the sac and didn't see the baby. They thought it was because I was early. I'm freaking out that there isn't a baby. Any opinions on this?
Re: 6w2d ultrasound question
My LMP was March 25. I had a +HPT at 3w5d or 3w6d based on that date. I wasn't charting temps or anything though.
I'd call your doctor tomorrow. Maybe they'll have you come in for another ultrasound or do a few rounds of bloodwork to make sure that everything is okay.
Also--do you have a tilted uterus? I have heard about that causing you to measure behind.
During the u/s they measure the sac and that's how they come up with the date. You may have O'd late and gotten an early + on your hpt. Since you weren't charting, there's no way to know for sure.
I DO have a tilted uterus. I will have to google that to see if that would cause them not to see the baby. Thanks!
Also, trip was because of random heavy bleeding. It was out of nowhere, I had not had any spotting or anything until that point.
April 28 or 29.
Then it is totally possible that you're 5 weeks! I O'd on April 18th (I charted) and got my BFP on 4/27 and I'm 5W1D.
Don't worry! This is totally feasible. Call your doctor tomorrow.
Thanks everyone.
I do feel a little more secure now! I'll be calling my OB tomorrow.
Oops I realized I was wrong though. I had a + HPT on April 22 or 23. All these dates are confusing the heck out of me.
My last period started on March 30th and I got my positive pregnancy test on April 24th. I am 6 weeks pregnant today.
