High teething fever?? Help me!

So this has been one hell of a mother's day.  My poor girl was up all night BURNING up with fever and so uncomfy.  She has one, possibly two teeth emerging on bottom gums.  These are her first teeth and she is miserable.  Her temp got up once last night to almost 102.  It came down with Baby Motrin but she has kept a steady fever of 100 degrees all today, sometimes a bit higher, sometimes a bit lower.  The 102 scared me but everything I am reading says that as long as it doesn't go higher than that not to take her to the doc/ER.  What have your experiences been with emerging teeth and fever?  Is this par for the course?  btw I have already called the doc but of course they aren't open today and I didn't want to go to urgent care but now i am worrying that maybe I should.  Am I being silly?? I am so tired and just want to make her feel better!!

    I'm sorry, Laura didn't have any sort of fever when she got her teeth.  Is there a 24 hour ask a nurse type line you can call?

    I don't think teething causes a fever that high, personally.  You should certainly not assume a fever that high is from teething and overlook an underlying infection.  See how she is tomorrow and call the doctor if she still has a fever or is showing signs of illness.

    Unfortunately not.  She has been pulling on her ears too which I know can be teething or an ear infection so I don't know what to think.  I can see the two teeth and it just looks so painful.

    DS' fever didn't go past 100.3 when the bottom two teeth were emerging.

    I would watch her tonight, keep the Motrin going and bring her to the Pedi in the morning.

    i'd take a wash cloth, get it wet and throw it in the freezer and let her munch on it....

    We just had the SAME thing happen. ?DD had a fever of 102.2 and had just popped another tooth. It would go down with tylenol, but after 2 days I called the doc. They said to give it one more day. Well on the 3rd day her fever was gone but she broke out in a rash. I brought her in and it turns out she actually had "Roseola" - it's a common virus that children get. There was nothing she could take/ nothing we could do. In 2 days the rash went away. Our ped told us that teething fevers aren't over 101. I would maybe call tomorrow just to check.

    Lukewarm baths, cool cloth wipe-downs and regular Motrin with something soothing to chew should work.  Just keep a close eye on her.  If it makes you feel any better, we were in the emergency room a few weeks ago for a fever plus a combination of other things(lethargic, loss of appetite, dry skin/lips - dehydrated), and our discharge paperwork clearly stated that fevers are not dangerous until 105-106.  Prior to that point it's normally just the body's way of dealing with an underlying infection(for us it was a stomach bug).  You'll get through, but no one would blame you for taking her in if you were really truly concerned.  =)

    If its still in the hundreds tomorrow i would bring her in.  DD was teething (we could see the tip of white breaking through) but tylenol and motrin weren't keeping the temp down.  Daycare called us to bring her home because they said 101 is higher than a normal teething temp.  We took her in because she was crankier than usual and sure enough she had her first ear infection.

    I second this, I also thought DS had a fever because of teething and I completely missed an ear infection.
