When we painted our house a while back there was a little flat sponge brush thing that worked. Sorry but i have NO idea what it was called. I'd look at home depot they should be able to help.
I'm not a taper. I just use a beveled edged brush and go VERY SLOWLY.
Exactly...so much easier to take an angle brush and trim this way...remember its actually better to get a tad of paint on the ceiling rather than leaving part of the wall white....just get that brush in the crack and trim! Its really not that hard...Good LUck!
There's this thing that is called an edger. It is a rectangular hand-held tool that has wheels on the top and you dip the flat bristled side in the paint, scrape off excess at the edge of the paint tray, and then put the bristled side flat on the wall where it meets the ceiling. The wheels roll across the ceiling as the bristled side coats the wall with paint. One trick is to use a paintbrush afterwards to smoothen excess paint from the lower part or else when it dries up and you paint the entire walls, you might see a line around that part. It is very easy and very quick to use all around the ceiling, corners, doors and windows. You can easily find this at any paint supply store.

Don't tape the ceiling. Use a a good sash brush and make sure you have plenty of paint on it and go slow. Kind of start away from the ceiling and then slowly work your brush up to the ceiling.
I don't tape either- I just get a GOOD angled brush and paint into the corner. I personally don't like the edgers because I think you can see the "brush strokes" and I have gotten paint on the wheels and then on the ceiling before.... I think its easiest and ends up looking best just to do it with a brush.
Edgers (the spongy thing that slides onto the plastic piece w/ wheels) work well only if you keep a wet cloth with you and wipe it down constantly b/c like pp said, you can get paint on the outside edge. You can also use the edger with another edger type thing (don't know what it is called) that is a long piece of thin metal with a plastic handle- that thing is held against the ceiling to block and then you use the wheeled edger under it to paint the wall. Still need to wipe both regularly to prevent paint from getting on the ceiling though.
