I found out a short while ago that one of my SILs said to my other SIL that it is "just wrong" that I kept DS#1 in FT daycare until my LO was 6 weeks old (I needed to recover from my c-section!) and that I currently have DS#1 going to daycare twice a week so he can have some fun and I can do important things like grocery shop and clean the house!! Has anyone else been criticized like this?? Am I an evil person?? I am off work until LO is 11 months but I'm just trying to find some sanity while having 2 kids under the age of 2!
DS #1: May 25, 2007
DS #2: Jan 7, 2009
DD #3 due May 17, 2014!!! Low lying placenta and DD measuring 1 week ahead at big u/s
Re: Have 2 under 2 - criticized for using pt daycare
I see nothing wrong with it - if getting a break gives you some sanity it will only make you a better mom when they are home with you. And I agree that daycare is great for socialization for the kids.
Dont let it get to you!
Me too. I can't imagine running after a toddler while taking care of a newborn right after my c-section.
that's the thing..i needed at least 2 weeks before i felt decent. sadly..lol..DH wants 2 under 2 but luckily i'll have two sets of grandparents to help out!
I'm still on maternity leave (will be through June) and DD usually still goes to daycare her normal 3 days a week. If it is a nice day or we have a play date I'll often take her out. But we have kept her in daycare while I'm on maternity leave for several reasons.
1. If we pull her out we lose our spot. And finding part time daycare is extremely difficult. So since we have to pay for the slot we figure we might as well use it.
2. It has given me one on one time to bond with DS, and also gave me time to rest in those early weeks (since DD no longer naps).
3. It has given DD something to do. Getting out of the house can be difficult with a newborn and a toddler and DD would get bored if we sat around the house all day.
4. I needed the break. Operating on little sleep then getting up at 6am to manage a toddler all day and not having a kid free moment until DS goes to bed at 9pm is difficult. When she is at daycare I can have a few moments to myself when DS naps.
People are too critical! Don't let it get to you! I think it is a great idea too that I would do myself when the time comes and I need to.
I love the name Avery!! Sooo pretty!!!!
Use it if you can. I would have if I was able to afford it. DH went back to work a day after I came home. I had a c/s and have a toddler. I was tired and in so much pain.
I think people talk a bunch of crap when they're jealous.
I wish I could have sent my boys to daycare after my c-section, recovery with 2 year old twins was not a good time, and it's good for them to get out and socialize anyway and losing your spot would stink, it takes a while at some places to get in.
